They call it SwitchBack Sorrows for a reason, but the beauty of Riverside State Park is the ultimate cure. This 50k journey takes you through the very best of Spokane’s backyard—from the rushing Spokane River and the iconic CCC Suspension Bridge to the rugged volcanic "haystack" rocks and ponderosa pine forests. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or your first ultra finish, these trails will challenge your legs and recharge your soul. ​The Course & Cutoffs
The clock starts at 8:00 AM, giving you a full 10 hours to conquer the 31-mile loop. With a finish line cutoff of 6:00 PM, this race is designed to be inclusive for power-hikers and speedsters alike. You’ll navigate roughly 3,100 feet of elevation gain across a mix of fast prairies, technical rocky stretches, and—true to our name—the winding switchbacks that test your resolve. ​Crew Support
You don't have to face the "sorrows" alone! We pride ourselves on being a crew-friendly race. Thanks to the accessible layout of Riverside State Park, your support squad can meet you at multiple designated points to swap gear, offer encouragement, and help push you through the late-mile hurdles.
​Important Pass Requirement
Riverside State Park requires a Discover Pass for all vehicles. Please ensure your crew and supporters have one displayed.
​Day Pass: $10
​Annual Pass: $45

​Race Day Schedule
​7:00 AM: Packet Pickup Opens (Seven Mile Airstrip)
​8:00 AM: Race Start 6:00 PM: Course Close (10-Hour Limit)
