General Description

The Citadel Challenge will be conducted by Omnibus (a satellite of the Broadway Ultra Society) and by FAR, a new organization created by women ultra runners. The “Citadel” offers three race opportunities at 25 kilometers, 30 kilometers and 50 kilometers, but not separate. There will just be one start. You DO NOT have to declare what distance you are running. 50K finishers will also get official times and placings for the 25K and 30K. The course loop is a rolling 2.5 kilometer circuit around and through Fort Totten on a variety of surfaces: macadam & blacktop roadways and cement paths.

Event Details

• Experience the splendors of Fort Totten. Built during the Civil War. Many of the 19th Century structures still remain. The Fort is also situated on peninsula. Part of the event route ambles along Little Neck Bay to the east and the East River to the west. The Throgs Neck (suspension) Bridge will be at your doorstep with even views of the NYC Skyline in the horizon.


• Parking & Facilities: At Little Bay Park at Totten Road and Cross Island Parkway. Parking lot & facilities are ¼ mile from race staging area.


• Mass Transit: The Q13 Bus connects with #7 subway In Flushing & the LIRR in Bayside right to Fort Totten Gate.


• Registration & Staging Area: Inside Fort Gate, at Totten Avenue & Murray Avenue adjacent to Fort Totten Chapel. Multiple Portosans in Fort Totten and on event route.


• Aid: One station providing water, Gatorade and cola with various food snacks and medical items.


• Time limit: For all distances will be 8 and 1/2 hours.


• SWAG: An imprinted apparel item with the new Omnibus logo to all pre-entrants. Omnibus medals to all finishers for all three distances. Lunch with soft drinks provided to all entrants and their guests.
