This is a weighted race

What's a weighted race? Glad you asked, as this is the first of its kind!

In a weighted race, you have a time limit - 6 hours here - to do as many laps as you can, carrying as little or as much weight as you want per lap. Your distance is multiplied by the weight you carried, and the person with the most pound-miles (Kz*) wins.

This race is a 3 mile out-and-back on a rail trail that features paved, gravel and grass surfaces. We'll weigh your pack / plate carrier / whatever weight you brought at the start and finish of each lap, with the lower result being multiplied by the 3 miles. So for example, 30 pounds will get you 90 Kz. Add, reduce or keep the same weight on each lap; it's up to you. Can't carry as much weight as the competition? You might be able to get more laps in with less weight and still win. This will truly be a test of strength vs speed! But you'll have to FINISH your last lap before the 6-hour clock runs out. Rack up the most Kz in your division for the win!

The race will be held on Mansfield's WWII Veterans Memorial Trail, which is dedicated to the thousands of men and women who passed by this way along the former Old Colony Railroad Line from the staging area at Camp Myles Standish in Taunton, bound for their Boston port of embarkation for military service in all parts of the world.

*Ok, ok, what's a "Kz?" Quite simply, we haven't seen a race like this before, and "pound-miles" is a bit of a mouthful. So until we think of something better, and because our last name starts with "Koz," we'll go with it!
