Warrior 100

Froggy Mountain Adventures is sponsoring a winter 100 miler group run on Feb 22, as a fundraiser for the veterans organization, 22toomany. I lost my son Dexter, a US Marine, to mental health and suicide Feb 25th 2018, and have been running 100 100s to raise awareness. In the past I've run solo 100s but this year I decided to see if anyone would like to join me for a self supported 100 in Galax Virginia. There aren't many 100 milers available to run in February, so I'm hoping there might be a few die-hards out there willing to brave the cold and possible ice/snow in support of military and veteran suicide awareness. This event won't be permitted, just a "group of friends" getting together to run. We will most likely have some kind of aid set up at the start/finish, but you'll need to plan to be self-sufficient. It will have a 40 hour soft cutoff. Meaning if you don't make 40 but want to continue, I'll still give you a buckle. Feb temps can be cold and snow or freezing rain is always a possibility.
Location SR612 Trailhead, Foothills Rd, Galax VA.
It's a low key quiet road/trail near Galax. There is a 7.2 mile out and back on a gravel road with a 3.1 mile climb and a descent with a gorgeous view at the top, then a 1.35 mile out and back on a moderately technical trail. You'll do a quick jog down the road near the finish for approx .10 miles, creating a 10 mile loop. Repeated 10x. None of the climbs are hard but there is approx 15,000 feet of vert for the entire 100 miles. Cost includes a buckle from etsy, inscribed with my son Dexters Warrior artwork, depicting his victory over his demons. The remaining amount after tax-fees will be approx $22 that will be donated to #22toomany. $65 total
Register before Feb 1 for a buckle at the run, otherwise it'll be mailed afterwards.
