SUFFERFEST
Come and join us for this FAT A$$ event where you will traverse the very challenging Section 4 of the Pioneer Trail as many times as you can for 5 hours ( you DO NOT have to run/walk/hike the entire 5 hours that is just the alloted time we will have for the event) Section 4 is 2.5 ish miles in one direction and you will go out and back on this technical and hilly ( yes we have hills in Florida haha ) section filled with switchbacks and overlooks of Black Creek and scenic vista's along the way on a mainly single track trail. Add in the heat and humidity of a hot august morning in North East Florida and you will get as much heat training as you want! While most Fat A$$ events are self supporting, we at Sombrero Running Events believe in making your suffering a little more tolerable so we will have at least an igloo of cold ish water and some sort of electrolytes at the 1/2 way point ( 2.5 miles) which may or may not be manned ( we cant be too soft for ya and actually have people that will listen to your misery )
Event Info
This event will be limited to 35-40 overall participants in order to keep it at a minimum since it will be an out and back course and single track and due to limited parking at the "4 way " parking area which is know as the Phillips Branch parking area. We encourage you to carpool if able to minimize any parking issues, if needed we have alternate parking areas but would rather eliminate that. While this is a free event, we would encourage you if able to donate on the event day so we can give back some funding for necessary resources to help maintain and keep the Pioneer Trail in the pristine condition that it is. We will donate any funding to the Friends of Florida State Forest on behalf of the participants. This will be a cupless event so you will be obligated to bring your own hydration vessel and all fueling needs, we will have an igloo with Skratch electrolytes and one with water and some pickle juice but other than that its up to you to provide your own fueling.
AWARDS
While we are not doing any sort of timing and keeping this a low key event, we also like to have some competitive nature for those that want to see how their summer training is going. We are going to offer the "winner" or person whom does the most out and backs a comp entry into either our SOS trail race in september ( any time distance ) or our Premier Trail Race Festivus 100 mile trail race in December ( up to a 50 mile entry, if you are interested in the 100 mile distance we can work something out ) We will also giveaway a random entry fee as well to a lucky participant with the same parameter as the "winner". We will have some sort of tally method to keep track of whom has the most loops, possibly a "capture the flag" type where you need to return each loop with some momento we will have of our choosing for you to lug around.
