Race Description
The trails at Enterprise South Nature Park are the venue for this crazy one-loop 50K. The race starts on a half mile road section to thin out the race a bit before joining the wide and soft Poe Run trail that will allow the pack to thin out a bit more. At 3 miles, the race steps onto the well maintained horse trails where we will have one of five amazing aid stations with a wide choice of snacks and drinks to help keep you fueled for the task at hand. At 11 miles, the course jumps back onto the pedestrian only trails for 5 gorgeous and winding non-technical miles of trail. The course transitions to mountain bike trails back at the start/finish at mile 16. The last 15-miles are rolling single-track trails.
This nature park includes 100 concrete TNT storage bunkers remaining from the days the park was a part of the U.S. Army munitions manufacturing facility and the race course runs through one of these bunkers at mile 17. The 2800 acres of heavily wooded, mostly undisturbed terrain are home to turkeys, deer, hawks, coyotes, raccoons and various reptiles. In addition to trails, the park hosts picnic areas and restrooms, a dog park, a disc golf course, play areas for kids, pump tracks for biking and more.
