INSPIRATION
I was inspired after completing this unforgettable challenge in 2023, traveling various state parks all over Texas in a van with fellow trail-running hooligans who traded sleep for memories. After we finished the challenge over 48 hours later... we crushed Chick-fil-A and said... "worth it". I hope you say the same after we finish this challenge together, in person or virtually. Forged 48 is more than a race. It is a Phase One Mission - an invitation to train for adversity, define resilience, and find hope, leaving no one behind.
RACE DESCRIPTION
Forged 48 is a simple concept, challenging execution. Run 4 miles every 4 hours for 44 hours starting our first 4 mile iteration on 24 April at 8PM and finishing our last iteration at 4PM on 26 April, ending our challenge with 48 miles.
Become Forged - Physically, Mentally, Emotionally, Spiritually.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Together, we will run 4 mile routes at various trailheads within Riverside State Park during hours of light and Reardan Cross Country Track during hours of darkness. Specific routes will be briefed prior to each iteration.
AID STATIONS
Food/H20/Electrolytes will be available prior to each iteration.
REQUIRED GEAR/RECOMMENDATIONS
Everyone will need a Discover Pass for duration of challenge. You can pick up Discover Day Passes at various State Park Trailheads (Bowl and Pitcher), Head Lamp/Batteries/Preferred Running Gear that will last 48 hours (socks, shirts, shorts, shoes, leggings, running vest)
Recommendation: Warming layers, rain gear, beanie, puffy jacket... whatever makes you comfortable during and in-between iterations.
