50 RUNNERS. ONE COURSE. ONE LAST RUNNER STANDING.
Welcome to the 2027 Last Mamba Standing Backyard Ultra, hosted by Mamba Trail Runners!
Last Mamba Standing returns for its second year on October 23, 2027, on beautiful private trails in Eads, Tennessee, just outside Memphis.
After an incredible inaugural event in 2026, we are excited to take Last Mamba Standing to another level in 2027. We are introducing a lottery registration system, limiting the field to just 50 runners, and expanding our race-day livestream with live commentary.
This isn't a race against the clock. It's a race to see how far you're willing to push yourself.
There is no predetermined finish line. No set distance. No set time limit.
There can only be ONE Last Mamba Standing.

LOTTERY REGISTRATION – HOW IT WORKS
For 2027, Last Mamba Standing will use a lottery registration system.
Lottery Opens: Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 6:00 PM Central Time
Lottery Closes: Saturday, November 14, 2026
LIVE Lottery Drawing: Sunday evening, November 15, 2026
Entering the lottery is completely FREE!
There is no charge to submit your name into the lottery.
If you are selected, you will receive an official invitation to participate in the 2027 Last Mamba Standing Backyard Ultra.
You will only be charged if you receive an invitation and accept your spot in the race.
Submitting your name into the lottery does not guarantee entry into the race.

HOW WILL RUNNERS BE SELECTED?
We are limiting the entire field to 50 runners.
The top 10 runners from our 2026 Last Mamba Standing event will receive invitations to return for 2027.
Our goal is to fill the remaining 40 positions with 20 men and 20 women through the lottery.
If we do not fill all available positions during the initial drawing, additional invitations may be extended until the field is full.
We will conduct our lottery drawing LIVE on Sunday evening, November 15, so runners can follow along as the field is selected.

HOW DOES A BACKYARD ULTRA WORK?
The format is simple. The challenge is anything but.
Every runner must complete a 4.167-mile loop within one hour.
At the beginning of every hour, runners line up and start the next loop together.
Finish your loop in 45 minutes? You have 15 minutes to rest, eat, hydrate, and prepare for the next start.
Finish in 59 minutes? You have just one minute before it's time to go again.
Fail to complete a loop within the hour or fail to start the next loop on time, and your race is over.
The race continues hour after hour, through the day, through the night, and into the following days until only one runner remains.
The winner must complete one final loop alone to officially become the Last Mamba Standing.
There is no finish line until everyone else stops.

Aid Station & Runner Support

Last Mamba Standing is a self-supported Backyard Ultra. Runners are responsible for bringing their own food, hydration, electrolytes, and other supplies needed throughout the race.
We will provide a limited aid station with backup hydration and nutrition supplies for runners who may need additional support during the event.
Please do not rely on our aid station as your primary source of food and hydration between every yard. Runners should come prepared with enough personal supplies to sustain themselves throughout the race.
We encourage runners to have a crew or set up their own personal aid station in the designated runner area.
Our aid station is intended to supplement your supplies, not replace them.

Awards / Swag

There can only be ONE Last Mamba Standing!
In true Backyard Ultra tradition, only one runner will earn the title of 2027 Last Mamba Standing Champion. This is the last runner to successfully complete one final yard after all other competitors have been eliminated.
We will also recognize and award the Top Overall Male and Top Overall Female for their outstanding performances.
All registered runners will receive official Last Mamba Standing race swag to commemorate their experience.
At Last Mamba Standing, it's not just about winning. It's about pushing beyond your limits, reaching distances you've never achieved before, and discovering just how far you can go.
One course. One champion. One Last Mamba Standing.

Race-Day Livestream

We have big plans to expand our livestream coverage in 2027!
Our goal is to provide an improved livestream experience featuring live commentary, runner updates, yard counts, and coverage from the start/finish area.
Friends, family, and backyard ultra fans will be able to follow the action as runners battle through the hours.
We want to give every runner an opportunity to share their journey with those watching from home.

No Refunds / Deferrals

There are no refunds and no deferrals for this event.
Once you sign up, you are officially entered into the race, whether you show up or not.

Please check your calendar carefully before registering to ensure you can attend.

By completing your registration, you acknowledge and agree to this policy.

Camping, Crews, & Race Support

Runners and crew will have the opportunity to camp on the private property beginning Friday before race day.
The race site offers space for runners and their crews to establish their own personal support areas.
Crews are welcome and encouraged! In backyard ultra racing, a great crew can make a tremendous difference as the hours and miles begin to add up.
Additional details regarding camping, parking, packet pickup, aid station support, and race logistics will be provided to accepted runners as race day approaches.
