Did you know that Cromwell Valley Park is part of the Gunpowder Watershed? The Gunpowder Trailfest invites runners, hikers, walkers and families to experience the beauty of the Gunpowder Watershed! This fun filled event blends outdoor adventure with conservation impact-bringing people together to enjoy the trails, connect with nature, and support the landscapes that make this region so special. With multiple course options Gunpowder Trailfest offers something for everyone.

25k/12.5k distances offer a trail runner/hiker's dream. Beautiful mix of mostly single track trails that are both challenging and runnable with "rolling hills" some flats and maybe a climb or two. Best suited for one with at least some trail experience.

5k is a family friendly distance and trails that are less challenging but exciting nonetheless!

Host and partners

Gunpowder Trailfest is put on by The Baltimore Road Runners Club to benefit The Gunpowder Valley Conservancy (GVC), Cromwell Valley Park and TALMAR to unite the running and conservation communities to celebrate stewardship, recreation and the shared responsibility of caring for the Gunpowder Watershed.

Why it matters

Proceeds from the Gunpowder Trailfest will directly support the mission of the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy-to protect land, restore waterways, and inspire a healthy, sustainable future for our communities- as well as supporting Cromwell Valley Park and TALMAR.

25k/12.5k

This course is a 12.5k looped course with 12.5k runners doing one loop and the 25k runners doing a second loop. Runners can decide when coming through the first loop if they want to continue on for the second and will get an official finishing time for whatever they choose.

5k

The 5k course will include a special experience for younger participants with activities at each mile marker, collecting stamps in their very own "Explore Passport". Complete the loop and earn a prize!
