JOY RUN 25KM — Back to Where It All Began

The Joy Run 25KM is returning to its roots on the West Coast of Newfoundland & Labrador where this movement first came to life in 2021.

Same distance. Same cause. Same unstoppable spirit.

This year’s course is the same as previous years as it takes you deep into the backcountry, through relentless mountain climbs and sweeping valleys that will test your grit and reward your courage. The race begins on North Harbour Road in Pasadena and carries you through rugged terrain before finishing in Steady Brook while descending into the breathtaking views of the Humber Valley.

But Joy Run has never been just about elevation gain.

It is, and always will be, held in loving memory of my brother, Jody Joy, who died by suicide on July 13, 2019.

Out of unimaginable loss came a commitment: to speak his name, to break stigma, to build connection, and to remind people that they are never alone. The Joy Run exists to turn grief into movement, silence into conversation, and pain into purpose.

Every climb represents the battles we fight.
Every valley reflects the moments we must move through.
Every finish line is proof that we can keep going together.

When you stand on that start line, you’re not just running 25 kilometers. You’re carrying forward a legacy. You’re supporting mental health awareness. You’re choosing to show up for yourself and for others.
