Welcome to the Scuffle

The Scuffle is a fast, fun, slightly rowdy 6-mile trail race that kicks off the Bradbury Mountain Trail Race Series. It’s the perfect race for runners who want to dip their toes into Maine trail running and for experienced trail runners who just want to throw down on some beautiful, runnable trails.

Expect a mix of single and double-track trails with a few rolling hills - classic Bradbury terrain. It’s a course that keeps you moving while reminding you that you’re definitely not on the road anymore.

Whether you’re racing for a podium spot or just here to enjoy the trails, the Scuffle delivers great running, great people, and the kind of trail community that keeps people coming back year after year.

Dedicated to Chris Douglass

This race is dedicated to Chris Douglass, a Trail Monster runner and adventurer whose life ended far too soon.

Chris embodied everything we love about trail running: community, exploration, and the willingness to chase adventure wherever it leads. His spirit lives on in the trails we run and the friendships we build out here.

We are honored to run this race in his memory.

Cutoff Time

The race cutoff is 1 hour 48 minutes (18-minute mile pace).

Registration Cap

Each race in the Bradbury Mountain Trail Series is capped at 180 runners.
When this number is reached, registration will close and no additional entries will be accepted.

We keep the races intentionally small to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants and because parking at Bradbury Mountain State Park is limited.

This series is about quality, not quantity.

Race Day Schedule

Bib Pickup / Check-In:
8:00 – 8:45AM race day morning

All registered runners will receive this year’s custom race T-shirt featuring a brand new design each year.

T-shirts will be distributed at bib pickup.

You must be present to receive your shirt.

Awards & Prizes

The first overall male and female finishers will receive first choice from the prize table.

Additional prizes will be awarded through random drawings among the winners of each decade age group, giving runners across all age groups a chance to take home something special.

Bradbury Mountain Trail Race Series

The Scuffle is part of the Bradbury Mountain Trail Race Series, also known as the “Badass Bradbury Races”.
Runners who complete four races in the series within the cutoff times will earn the coveted Bad Ass Hoodie.

Hoodies will be distributed to eligible finishers after the fourth race in the series: A Badass Race.

The overall male and female champions of the Bradbury Mountain Trail Race Series will receive a handcrafted Adirondack chair from Prospect Mountain Furniture, in addition to their Bad Ass Hoodie and individual race prizes.

Trail Monster Running

Trail Monster Running is a not-for-profit organization.

All organizers including race directors are unpaid volunteers who put on these races simply because we love trail running and the community that surrounds it.

Proceeds go to equipment to make our races better, as well as local nonprofit organizations and charities related to the outdoors and trails, including such groups as Royal River Conservation Trust.

Any leftover race shirts or hoodies are donated to local homeless shelters.
