The Skyfire Race Series: Ignite Your Potential
Welcome to the Skyfire Race Series, a brand-new four-race challenge designed to test your limits and celebrate your growth. Hosted at the stunning Solitude Mountain Resort in the heart of Big Cottonwood Canyon, this series takes you on a journey through the mountains.
The Progression
This series is uniquely structured to build your endurance and confidence throughout the late summer and fall. We invite you to join us for all four events as the distances increase and the terrain intensifies:
Race One: The Spark (5K) – A fast, invigorating start to shake out the legs and get comfortable with the mountain air.
Race Two: The Ember (5 Miles) – The challenge intensifies as we push further into the beautiful high-alpine terrain of the canyon.
Race Three: The Inferno (10K) – A true test of grit that demands more focus, strategy, and stamina on the trails.
Race Four: The OG: Big Cottonwood Canyon Classic (7 Miles) – Our signature finale, honoring the history of the canyon and pushing your limits one last time.

Iconic Location: Experience the breathtaking scenery of Solitude Mountain Resort, with every start and finish. After each race, runners will be treated to breakfast goodies, stretching and/or massages, and a great raffle.
Progressive Challenge: Whether you are new to trail racing or an experienced mountain runner, this series is crafted to help you level up your performance from August 15 through October 3, 2026.
Community: Become part of the inaugural class of Skyfire runners and build camaraderie with a local community that shares your passion for the outdoors.
Race One: The Spark
Get ready to ignite your trail running at the Skyfire Spark, the high-altitude kickoff to our four-race series! Set against the stunning backdrop of Big Cottonwood Canyon, this 5K challenge packs a punch with nearly 1,000 feet of vertical gain that will definitely get your heart pumping and your legs burning. Whether you are a seasoned mountain goat or a curious newcomer, you’ll find plenty of camaraderie, stunning vistas, and that perfect touch of alpine grit to fuel your run. It’s the ultimate way to test your limits in the thin mountain air while soaking in the beauty of the Wasatch Range. As you traverse the high-alpine terrain of Solitude Resort, you’ll be treated to breathtaking mountain vistas that make every drop of sweat worth the effort. It is the perfect stage for runners looking to chase a personal best or simply conquer the technical trails of the Wasatch Range. Come test your speed and grit against the clock—are you ready to keep the flame alive?

Race Three: The Inferno
Get ready to embrace the spirit of adventure at Race #3: The Inferno, our most challenging and highly anticipated event of the race series SO FAR!
Prepare for a true "suffer fest." You will face a punishing 1,500 feet of vertical gain within the first three miles alone. This brutal climb is designed to push your lungs and legs to their absolute limit right out of the gate. Once you conquer the initial ascent, you’ll be rewarded with the same incredible vibes, community support, and epic alpine scenery you’ve come to love. Bring your best energy—at The Inferno, the adventure is always worth the chase!
