What is Fever Dream? How Long Will You Stay in the Dream?

Welcome to the Fever Dream Ultra, Roane County’s newest endurance event and unlike anything you’ve experienced before. Set on the home trails of the Roane State Red Raiders Cross Country Team at Roane State Community College, this race blends endurance, community, grit, and chaos into one unforgettable weekend.
This isn’t just another looped ultra. This is a 24-hour endurance festival. It’s a place where runners, walkers, ruckers, crews, and spectators all become part of the same energy. A place where there is always movement, always music, always food, and always competition. Whether you’re here to test your limits for 3 hours or stay awake and push through all 24, the Fever Dream is built for everyone.

Choose Your Dream

Run, walk, or ruck as far as you can before time runs out. Simple. Brutal. Beautiful. (Headlamps are strictly required from sundown to sunrise for all evening/night participants).

The Course & The Vibe

The Fever Dream course is a 2-mile loop on a scenic grass path around the Roane State campus. It’s short enough to keep your crew close, but long enough to make every lap matter.
This format creates an atmosphere unlike traditional ultras:
• Constant Action: Your crew sees you often, spectators stay engaged, and the energy never dies. No disappearing into the woods for hours.
• The Festival Village: We are building a full endurance festival complete with overnight RV (hookups available!) and tent camping, fire pits to keep warm, food trucks, vendors, and music. We will even have fireworks to officially ring in the New Year!
• Indoor Staging: Need a break from the elements? We have dedicated inside staging areas for runners and crews to recover and gear up.
• Community: Bring your crew, your family, and your team. Set up camp, cheer, recover, and go back out.

Swag, Awards & The Century Mark

Every registered participant will receive:
• Official Fever Dream race shirt
• Custom Fever Dream swag bag
• A unique finisher experience

Awards:

• Special awards for Top Finishers in each division.
• The 100-Mile Buckle: A custom belt buckle for all runners who reach the century mark within the 24 hours.

Racing for a Cause

When you run the Fever Dream, you are running for the future. All proceeds from this event go directly towards student-athlete development. Thank you for supporting the next generation of endurance athletes!
Who Is This For? Everyone. First-timers, veteran ultrarunners, trail runners, road runners, ruckers, and relay teams. People chasing their first ultra, and people chasing 100 miles.
You can leave whenever you want. But once the dream starts... How long will you stay?

6-Hour Ruck Division ??

For the uninitiated, rucking is typically described as walking/hiking with a weighted pack. First introduced in 2024, the 6-Hour Ruck option has become an awesome addition to our ultra events!
Rules & Weight Requirements:

RUCK SACKS ONLY! No weighted vests or other plate carriers are permitted.

Men: 30 lbs dry weight
Women: 20 lbs dry weight
Boys (Under 15): 20 lbs dry weight
Girls (Under 15): 10 lbs dry weight

The honor system applies. However, with our Race Director being a former Infantry Marine, he will be coming by to officially certify the rucks, so pack accordingly!

Relay Team Rules ??

Not ready to take on the 12-hour or 24-hour challenge solo? Build a team and tackle the Fever Dream together! Here is how the relay divisions work on our 2-mile looped course:
Team Size: Teams can consist of 2 to 6 members.

The "Baton": Each team will be issued a single team bib attached to a race belt (or a team timing chip). This belt acts as your baton and must be worn by the active runner at all times.

The Exchange Zone: All runner swaps MUST take place within the designated Start/Finish staging area. You cannot pass the belt out on the course.

One at a Time: Only one team member is allowed on the course at any given time.

Your Strategy, Your Rules: There is no minimum or maximum distance required per runner, and no set rotation order! A team member can run one 2-mile lap and swap, or run for 4 hours straight. You can even let half your team sleep during the night while the other half rotates. It is entirely up to your team's strategy.

Scoring: Your team's final score is the total number of fully completed 2-mile loops within the time limit. Partial laps do not count!

Event's current local time: 12:37 PM ET
