ROO RACE SERIES — MONTANA

June 11–12, 2027 | Clancy, Montana

Five races. One weekend.

The ROO Race Series returns to Dutchman Creek Events for a full weekend of racing on a private Montana cattle ranch. Friday features four companion races — the 50K, 25K, 10K, and Lil Bucks Mile — followed Saturday by the ROO Backyard Ultra: Last One Standing.

Expect rugged Montana terrain, ranch roads, single-track, cross-country sections, and a course designed to reward grit over speed.

FRIDAY — 50K / 25K / 10K / LIL BUCKS MILE

Our Friday races give runners four ways to experience ROO.

50K
Our longest traditional-distance race. The course will utilize a multi-loop format with access to the central event hub and staffed aid support.

25K
A challenging middle-distance option using the same rugged ranch environment, with central event support and staffed aid on course.

10K
A shorter introduction to ROO with a marked course and aid available at the start/finish.

Lil Bucks Mile (Ages 12 & Under)
A one-mile kids race built to bring the next generation into race weekend. Start/finish support will be provided.

All courses will be clearly marked, with official course maps and GPX files provided before race weekend.

AID & SELF-SUPPORT

The 50K, 25K, 10K, and Lil Bucks Mile will have event-provided aid stations and race support. Specific aid station locations, available nutrition and hydration, and course support details will be provided prior to race weekend.

The ROO Backyard Ultra: Last One Standing is a self-supported event. While limited event-provided nutrition and hydration may be available, all Backyard Ultra competitors must come fully equipped to self-support for the duration of their race. Runners and their crews are responsible for their own nutrition, hydration, gear, lighting, clothing, and other supplies.

SATURDAY — ROO BACKYARD ULTRA

4.17 miles. Every hour. On the hour. Until one remains.

The ROO Backyard Ultra follows the traditional backyard format. Competitors must complete the designated 4.17-mile loop within one hour and report back to the starting corral for the next start.

Every hour begins a new yard.

Fail to complete the loop in time, or fail to start the next yard, and your race is over.

There is no predetermined finish distance and no predetermined finish time. The race continues until only one competitor remains capable of completing another yard.

The Backyard Ultra course includes staffed on-course support points, but competitors are expected to manage their own nutrition, hydration, clothing, lighting, and race strategy throughout the event.

RACE WEEKEND

Runners may compete in a Friday race and the Saturday Backyard Ultra.

Detailed schedules, course maps, aid station information, mandatory gear requirements, parking instructions, check-in procedures, and race-specific rules will be communicated to registered competitors before race weekend.

REGISTRATION & REFUND POLICY

Registration is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

ALL REGISTRATIONS ARE FINAL. NO REFUNDS.

By registering, you are committing to your race entry and accepting the inherent uncertainty that comes with outdoor endurance events. Entry fees will not be refunded due to injury, illness, travel issues, schedule conflicts, weather, or a decision not to participate.

Additional event policies and race-day requirements will be communicated to registered competitors before the event.
