WELCOME TO EVER ONWARD

Ever wonder how far you could go if you gave yourself a little more time?

Let’s find out!

Join SHE RUNS ULTRAS on October 2, 2027 in Dublin, NH, for the first-ever EVER ONWARD trail race, hosted by She Runs Ultras.

Pick your time: 3, 6, 9, or 12 hours and see what you can do on a 4.5-mile loop through grassy paths and wooded single track. Run some, walk some, stop for snacks. You’ll come back through the start/finish each lap, so your gear and your cheering squad are never too far away.

I’m creating this race for the woman who’s been wondering if she could run an ultra, the runner ready to go farther, and anyone who thinks spending a Saturday on the trails sounds like a pretty good time.

You don’t have to know how far you’ll go before you sign up. That’s part of the fun.

THE BASICS

When: Saturday, October 2, 2027

Where: Dublin, New Hampshire 03444

How far: 3, 6, 9, or 12 hours

The course: A 4.5-mile trail loop with wide, grassy paths, dirt hiking trails, and uphill single track through the woods.

The goal: See how far you can go in the time you choose. You’ll return to the start/finish each lap for food, supplies, and encouragement.

Who's it for? This race is specifically geared towards women and first time trail & ultra runners but it's NOT exclusively for women.

HOW A TIMED RACE WORKS

Most races give you a distance to finish before time runs out. Here, you pick your time: 3, 6, 9, or 12 hours and see how much ground you can cover.

You’ll follow the same 4.5-mile loop, coming back through the start/finish each lap. Grab some food, change your socks, check-in with your people, and head back out!

And no, you don’t have to run the whole time. Walking and hiking are super powers around here!

Walk the hills. Take a snack break. Sit down for a few minutes. The clock keeps running while you’re resting, but you can get moving again whenever you’re ready.

You can work toward a specific mileage goal or just see how the day unfolds. And if you’re done before your time is up, that’s okay too. You don’t have to reach an ultra distance to participate...your miles still count.

WHICH OPTION SHOULD I CHOOSE?

How much time do you want to spend out there? That’s a good place to start.

**3 HOURS**
Curious about trail racing? Come give it a try. Three hours gives you time to explore the course, get comfortable, and see what running laps is all about. You can also use it to push yourself without making a whole day of it.

**6 HOURS**
Ready to spend a little longer on the trails? Give yourself time to practice fueling, figure out your pacing, and keep going beyond the point where you’d normally wrap up your weekend long run.

**9 HOURS**
Maybe you have a mileage goal that needs more time or you just like the idea of a full day outside! Nine hours gives you plenty of time to test your gear & your legs...plus get some practice running on the trails in the dark!

**12 HOURS**
Want the whole day? It’s yours. Work toward your farthest distance yet!

**More hours doesn’t mean you have to run faster or run the entire time.** Pick the option that fits your goal, your level of preparation, and the kind of day you want to have.

THE COURSE

It's a 4.5 mile looped course. You'll start out on wide, grassy paths that swoop back and forth through the woods. There will be plenty of elbow room here so you can spread out. Then, the course turns further into the forest and onto well established dirt hiking trails. Not long after, the trail hooks a left and narrows down to single track. Here is where you'll get the quintessential New England trail running experience. There will be rocks, roots, leaves, etc that will challenge your foot placement and balance. If I had to give it a difficultly rating it would be a 6 out of 10. You'll climb up to the lookout point (great spot for a snack and a selfie) and then start your descent & return to the start finish. Back to the dirt hiking trails and then back to the wide, grassy paths. The course will be well marked with signs & flagging so even if you're "directionally challenged" it will be VERY hard for you to get lost here. This is a great choice for beginners to both trails and ultras. The total elevation gain/loss per lap is ~700 ft. Course elevation profile to come!

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

- Reliable timing & lap tracking. You keep moving. We’ll keep count.
- A well-stocked aid station featuring cold drinks, hot food, sweet stuff, salty stuff...all the necessities to keep you fueled throughout your run.
- Your choice of a race shirt or hat. Pick the one you’ll actually wear!
- An EVER ONWARD finisher keepsake. Something to remember your day and the miles you covered.
- Space for your own pit stop. Set up your personal aid station near the start/finish so your favorite snacks, extra layers, and spare socks are there when you need them.
- A sign-making station for your cheering squad. We’ll bring the supplies. Your friends and family can bring the encouraging words, questionable jokes, and artistic talent.
- Ample, well-stocked porta-potties. Yes, this deserves its own bullet point :-)

YOUR HOME BASE FOR THE DAY

Bring your chairs, your favorite snacks, extra layers, and whatever else you want for your own little pit stop. You’re welcome to set up a personal aid station right at the start/finish area, including a pop-up tent no larger than 10 × 10 feet. You’ll come back through here every lap, and the porta-potties will be here too.

Your car is not your aid station.

Cars will NOT be allowed in the setup area. Depending on when you arrive, you’ll park in either the adjacent lot or the lot across the street. Your car may not be accessible during the race, so bring everything you’ll need to your setup before you start.

WHY IS THE RACE CALLED EVER ONWARD?

The name of this race has a connection to Dublin that goes back more than a hundred years.

Amy Lowell (1874–1925) was a celebrated American poet whose work earned a Pulitzer Prize. She also spent summers here in Dublin, at a home on Beech Hill just a stone’s throw from our race course.

Her poem The Lamp of Life, published in 1912, inspired the name EVER ONWARD.

The Lamp of Life

By Amy Lowell

Always we are following a light,
Always the light recedes; with groping hands
We stretch toward this glory, while the lands
We journey through are hidden from our sight
Dim and mysterious, folded deep in night,
We care not, all our utmost need demands
Is but the light, the light! So still it stands
Surely our own if we exert our might.
Fool! Never can’st thou grasp this fleeting gleam,
Its glowing flame would die if it were caught,
Its value is that it doth always seem
But just a little farther on. Distraught,
But lighted ever onward, we are brought
Upon our way unknowing, in a dream.

For me, it’s that feeling of always having something a little farther out there calling you forward.

At first, running a few miles feels like a big deal. Then you wonder if you could run a half marathon. A marathon. An ultra. Or maybe your next goal is getting back to something you used to do and aren’t quite sure you can do again.

You don’t know exactly how it will go. But you’re curious enough to take the next step.

That’s what I want this race to give you: a place to explore that curiosity, with support, encouragement, and people who understand why you’d want to see what’s a little farther on.

EVER ONWARD.
