The Bonneville Brawl

1785 East 400 South

Springville , UT 10 Miler, 5 Miler

This Event Took Place Sat. Jun 17, 2017

About

I started this run in 2013 with the hopes of increasing awareness of the beautiful trails that we have access to in Utah County. Of all the years that I have been running on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail, I have only rarely seen runners or mountain bikers. Although I do enjoy the solitude, I have always envisioned the trail bustling with fellow outdoor enthusiasts. Unfortunately, the Springville segment of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail is becoming more rocky and more overgrown as the years go by and as fewer people use the trail regularly.

The Bonneville Brawl is a great opportunity for runners of all skill levels to explore this beautiful trail as they take in scenic views of southern Utah valley, participate in some friendly competition, and enjoy a delicious post-race breakfast.

Race Description

The 4th annual Bonneville Brawl returns after a brief hiatus in 2016. Those who have participated in years past know that it is really all about the post-race breakfast extravaganza. 2017 will be no different! Check out the website for additional details.
Please arrive at Check In/Registration no later than 6:30am (10 milers) or 7:30am (5 milers) so that we can ensure on-time starts. Thank you!

First of all, this course is 100% on dirt roads and dirt single track trails. If you are new to trail running in Utah county, be warned that these trails are also fairly rocky. The 5-mile course is a sort of out & back with a loop at the end. I like to call it a "lollipop" course. 10 mile runners will run the 5-mile route and then take a nice jaunt (~1800 ft. gain in 2.5 miles) up spring canyon and back to the finish.
I make it a point to ensure that the course is marked very well. There will be orange ribbons tied to branches and plants, orange marking paint arrows to guide you at every turn, AND real-life people who will volunteer their time to make sure that you don't take a wrong turn at a couple of crucial junctions. Just to be clear, you will start and finish at the same location.

Here is a link to the course through Strava:

https://www.strava.com/routes/9193551

There is about 1000 ft of total elevation gain in the 5 mile and 2700 feet of gain in the 10 mile.

This year we will have two aid stations. The first will be at mile 2.5 and the second will be at the top of spring canyon (mile 7.25), stocked with water and gatorade.

Breakfast

OK, the best part of this race is the phenomenal breakfast afterwards. NEW for this year we will be cooking up eggs, sausage and potatoes for breakfast burritos and homemade cinnamon rolls (and maybe more at the discretion of the Chef) for all runners and volunteers! For volunteers, breakfast is FREE. For runners, we will be charging a fair price of $10.00 per runner regardless of distance. (This is what you pay when you register at Ultra Signup) If you choose not to join us for breakfast, let me know and I will give you your money back before the start of the race.

Please e-mail me if you are interested in volunteering.
