About the event

This fall, enjoy one of three distances of foot races along the Middle Fork Willamette National Recreation Trail in Oakridge, Oregon. Three options are available: 11 Mile, 22 Mile or 33 Mile. Distances are approximate.

11 Mile: The first four miles will be along the Historic Oregon Central Military Wagon road, smooth, fast and scenic. The course then winds along the river and crosses several streams. There are a few short and steep climbs and a few more gentle climbs. At five miles, you'll cross a spring, prepare for wet feet. One more mile of ups and downs will bring you to the turn around at Chuckle springs. You will enter the burn area a 1/4 mile before the turn around. There is approximately 1400 feet of elevation gain. Dogs on leash are allowed on the 11 mile race only.

22 Mile: See above for first 6 miles the 11 Mile turn around is the first aid station. You'll be in the burn area for another mile then a few decent ups and downs with a bit of exposure looking down into the river valley. The last couple miles before the turn around at forest service road 2153 will be fast. You'll traverse a prairie, just continue straight. The turn around will be less than a mile after the prairie. There is approximately 2800 feet of elevation gain.

33 Mile: See above for first 11 miles. the 22 Mile turn around is the second aid station. The course follows road 2153 for a hundred yards or so. You'll then turn back onto the trail for some sweet single track, winding along the river and crossing a creek. The trail crosses the river again and heads into an old growth grove called Paddy's Swamp (don't worry, there is no swamp on the course). Once the trail turns uphill, pace yourself for a couple-three miles of steady uphill. The river dwindles to a gurgle off in the bushes. You'll cross what is left of the river once more with a few boulders to hop across. A half a mile before the turn around, you'll cross a road then cruise along lower Timpanogas lake, the source of the Willamette. The turn around is at the Timpanogas Lake trail head. There is approximately 5500 feet of elevation gain.
