The Placer Trail Races return on May 17th, 2025, bringing runners of all levels together for a day of trail running at Granite Beach in Granite Bay, CA. With 25K, 10K, 5K, and 5K Canicross options, these races offer scenic routes through rolling hills and along the shores of Folsom Lake.
Whether you're aiming for a new personal best or simply enjoying a day on the trails, the Placer Trail Races provide a welcoming and adventurous experience in the heart of Northern California’s trail running community.

Awards and Swag
We'll be doing things a little differently at PTRF! All runners will receive a finishers award based on how many times they've run with us and a goodie bag of sponsored items in 2024. If you ran with us last year then look forward to a unique award for second timers.
Participants will score a free trucker hat with registration or you may trade out your trucker hat for a BOCO Custom Running tech hat for $20.00 (normally $27).
25K
The 25K/15.6 mile takes place on May 17th at 8:30AM from Granite Beach State Park. All of it is runnable on single track trails going through sections of trails you've likely never ran on! Aid stations will be stocked with gels, chips, candy, potatoes, bananas, water and Skratch Hydration.
10K
The 10K takes place on May 17th at 8:30AM from Granite Beach State Park, is a mix of single track and double wide trails together with 500ft of climbing. There is one aid station on course with hydration and light snacks.
5K & 5K Canicross
Our 5K & Canicross 5K events are a great chance for you and your pal to run together. The 5K takes place on May 17th at 8:30AM from Granite Beach State Park, is mix of single track and double wide trails together with 280ft of climbing (may also run without your pal).
The Unity Initiative
In response to recent federal aid cuts, The Unity Initiative was created to support vital nonprofits that serve our communities. By donating to one of our partner organizations, participants can receive a future race discount and have their donation matched — up to $40 or 25% of their registration fee. This program aims to restore a sense of unity and compassion, ensuring local organizations continue to thrive despite reduced government support. Together, we can keep our communities strong.

Outlands 50K & 50M
In 2025, the 50K race at Peninsula Campground has been spun off into its own event, the Outlands 50K & 50M, taking place on April 12th. The Placer Trail Running Festival will still return on May 17th at Granite Beach in Granite Bay, CA, featuring the 25K, 10K, 5K, and 5K Canicross races, but no longer includes the 50K distance in 2025. These updates allow each event to offer a more tailored and exciting experience for runners.
