Welcome to Wy'east Trailfest!

Wy'east Trailfest is a celebration of mountain trail running featuring Mt. Hood’s illustrious alpine terrain, with world class 50 mile, 50K, 28K & 14K courses that reach Oregon’s rooftop on Saturday, plus a beautiful and more approachable trail Half Marathon, 8K (5 miler) and Kids Race to round out the weekend on Sunday! Whether racing, volunteering or spectating, join us up high on mighty Wy'east (the native ancestral name for Mt. Hood) for one of the most thrilling mountain trail race experiences anywhere.

50 Miler

50.2 miles / point-to-point / 11,100’ of gain / 9,300’ of loss
The 50 Miler offers an absolutely stunning and world-class point-to-point mountain trail race route, featuring volcanic alpine ridgelines up high and big forests, wildflower meadows and waterfalls down lower. This challenging and scenic mountain trail race shuttles runners out to the east edge of Mt. Hood National Forest’s Ponderosa backcountry, then runs ridgeline trails back onto the volcano up high into the alpine, then down to the finish at Mt. Hood Meadows. Runners will encounter an incredibly broad spectrum of PNW trail terrain, from Ponderosa, juniper and mananzita-lined dirt single track in the early miles, transitioning to panoramic rocky ridgelines, some primitive doubletrack, then steep, exposed volcanic alpine trails high above treeline on Mt. Hood. Truly magnificent views and outstanding support from start to finish!

50K

31.1 miles / point-to-point / 6900’ of gain / 5900’ of loss / $3000 prize purse
The 50K course offers an absolutely stunning, world-class point-to-point mountain trail race course, featuring volcanic alpine ridgelines up high and big forests, wildflower meadows and waterfalls down lower. Spectacular views abound from start to finish!

Podium Prize Purse: The top 3 mens and womens 50K finishers will be awarded a cash prize in the following amounts: 1st Place: $750; 2nd Place: $500; 3rd Place: $250

28K

17.3 miles / single loop course / 4,300’ of gain / 4,300' of loss / $3000 prize purse
The 28K is one of our all-time best and most epic courses, featuring a world class loop-style course on volcanic alpine ridgelines up the high country, and deep forests, wildflower meadows and waterfalls down low. This is a true mountain race, starting at Mt. Hood Meadows at 5400’ elevation, traveling as low at 4500’ and up to 8000’ high on the volcano experiencing the full spectrum of PNW terrain, from forested, smooth dirt singletrack to steep, technical, exposed and sometimes scrambly rocky trails. Spectacular views abound from start to finish!

14K Hill Climb

8.9 miles / Up & Down Course / 2,700’ of gain
The 14K Hill Climb course offers an amazing and STEEP vertical mountain race on volcanic alpine trails, starting and finishing at Mt. Hood Meadows around 5400’ elevation, climbing up to 8000’ on the volcano before descending back down for the finish. The course is as grueling as it is beautiful.

Half Marathon

13.1 miles / Single Loop Course / 2,400’ of gain / 2400' of loss
Let’s welcome the return of our classic trail half marathon to Mt. Hood! This amazing single loop course offers magnificent views, starting and finishing at Mt. Hood Meadows main lodge. The course travels through a diverse range of subalpine forest and wildflower meadows, including Umbrella Falls and 2 miles along the iconic Timberline Trail. The challenge, like the scenery will take your breath away!

8K

5.0 miles / Single Loop Course / 850’ of gain
The 8K course offers a beautiful and scenic clockwise loop course, featuring spectacular views of the Mt. Hood summit, wildflower meadows, the iconic Timberline Trail and other world-class trails from start to finish! Runners and hikers of all paces are welcome, as there is no time cutoff :)

Kids Race!

On Sunday of race weekend, we'll line up the kiddos for a .75 mile point-to-point scamper from the service road near Umbrella Falls onto the Beargrass Trail, then down to the finish at Mt. Hood Meadows Sun Deck. Kids under 6 years old shall be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
