2A Live Oak Lane

Middleburg, FL Half Marathon, 14K, 7K, 5K, Kids Fun Run

This Event Took Place Sat. May 13, 2023

We are back for more fun in the sun

We are excited for the 3rd annual Ocho de Mayhem Trail Race and this year we have joined forces with Mom's on the Run, which is an organization that specializes in helping mom's achieve their running goals in a safe and welcoming environment. We also have CHANGED VENUES to the new beautiful and Flat-ish and non-technical trail on the other side of Jennings State Forest called the Sandridge Trail. This will be the first event in our series of races that will be held at the Sandridge Trail and I think you will love the new accommodations which include FREE STANDING rest rooms with a sink and running water (2 bathrooms) as well as a "privy" at the 3.5 mile mark for the 1/2 marathoners so no Porta Potties! There is also a pavilion with plenty of picnic tables and plenty of room to set up tents if you would like. We have also added a Kids FUN RUN, which the exact distance is still to be determined. It will be a 1/2 mile or 1.5 mile loop. All events will be loops with the 1/2 marathon, 14k, and 5k doing 2 loops each (1 loop for the 7k), which will be fun to have family and friends come out to cheer you on each loop. We will have an aid station at the start finish line and one at the 3.5 mile mark for the 1/2 marathon, the 14k peeps will come back to start /finish after 4.2 miles and the 5k after 1.55 miles (if able we might have and aid station at the 2 mile mark for the 14k and 7k depending on having enough volunteers)

Distances

If you've run a trail race before, you know that there's pretty much always an "ish" attached to the distance and that the "ish" will almost never be shorter than the stated distance. The Ocho de Mayhem is no different. Our distances will be around 13.1 miles (more like 13.7), 14k, 7k and 5k. The cut off time for the 13.1 mile distance will be 4.5 hours ( 20 min/mile average) and the cut off for the 14k will be 3.5 hours (just over 21 mins/mile average). This will allow plenty of time to finish even if you have to hike the race, the 7k has a 2.5-hour limit and 5k has a 1.5 hour limit.

COVID Precautions

Unfortunately, we're still living in the COVID era, so we need to be safe to protect our runners and our volunteer staff. At each aid station we will have volunteers available to ensure that all hydration igloos will be sanitized adequately.

Our Fundraising Partners

Proceeds of our Jennings Forest Trail Runs support a variety of causes including the Friends of Jennings Forest who build and maintain the trails we run on and Runners 4 Recovery - an organization dedicated to supporting addiction recovery services in the Jacksonville area.

Aid Stations

This is a cupless race. All runners will need to bring their own bottles, hydration vest with bladder or collapsible cup to the event. We will have several aid stations stocked with water and electrolytes that our awesome volunteers will distribute to you .

Awards and Swag

All runners will receive an Ocho de Mayhem custom medal and awards made by the fabulous Brie Los at Wicked Skins given to overall winners for each distance and tshirts which the deadline to guarantee a shirt will be sunday april 16. .
