Run alongside the famed crooked river where the yeti and his friends learned to swim and fish and leave the river for a trip up to the most famous country fire tower life gets discussed and the moon gets howled at !

Cut-off / 9 hours super generous !
one hour early start available ! to take any pressure off and enjoy the course longer

TROUBLESOME HOLLOW

Why Troublesome Hollow? I doubt that anyone who grew up in the heart of Appalachia doesn't have fond memories of a Troublesome Hollow or Troublesome Creek. I wanted this race name to resonate with folks who come and run the race from outside Appalachia. So they to can have fond memories of the heart of Appalachia which is Southwest Virginia! See you Soon !!

The course is flat and fast along the river and over swinging bridges and trestles ! Just one small hill up to the Firetower !! And then a run back down to the finish !

If you dont like swinging trestles - you may use the hard bridges

This event is located in an area with limited parking . We are waiting to see if the field across trail can be mowed . If so all those on the waitlist will be sent invites to register by the end of February. Thank you for believing in small town events and your continued support of Appalachia.

Race Day:

Start: 8am
Early Start 7am pre race pep talk 10 mins prior to start start/finish location: 7720 Rich Valley Bristol, VA
Cut-off / 9 hours super generous !
one hour early start available! to take any pressure off and enjoy the course longer. Please arrive at 6:45am ready for any last-minute race day instructions. Be aware that if you choose the hour early start and run like the wind , you may beat the aid stations opening. One hour early start runners aren't eligible for overall awards.
