The Tranquility Lake Trail Race kicks off the Southeastern Trail Series and is all about getting outside, moving your body after taking the winter off, and having fun on the trails! The race starts at the Redbud Pavilion at Oak Mountain State Park at 8:00 AM.
If you’ve ever thought, “Maybe I should try a trail race…” — this is the one. The course is beginner-friendly and meant to be enjoyed at your own pace. Each loop is 3 miles with ~450 feet of elevation gain, enough to feel like a real trail run without being intimidating. The 6-mile race is simply two relaxed loops.
Course Overview:
Runners start in front of Redbud Pavilion and begin with a short 0.4-mile loop along Tranquility Road, circling the BMX track to spread out before the singletrack trails. From there, the course enters the woods and eventually emerges near the OMSP cabins. Runners cross Cabin Road, turn right, climb a "short" hill, then follow the trail back towards the BMX track to finish at Redbud Pavilion.
That’s the finish for 3-mile runners. 6-mile runners will hit the aid station at Redbud Pavilion, then head straight into the woods for a second lap (no extra loop around Tranquility Road).
Our races are about more than just the miles — expect a laid-back, supportive atmosphere where everyone cheers each other on. Food and beverages will be waiting at the finish line, so stick around to refuel, swap stories, and hang out with our amazing trail running community.
Please note: Oak Mountain State Park charges a $5 per-person entry fee.
