Course
Scenic single-track trail, five-mile loop, moderately to very technical. A few road crossings on lightly-traveled park roads. Some stream crossings are possible, depending on recent rainfall. The trail is very well-marked and maintained. This trail would be classified (4,4) by the Ultrarunning.com scale. Approximately 750 feet elevation change per loop. This trail will challenge the most seasoned runner! Full aid station at start/finish with Heed, water and various food items. Water, Tailwind and gel aid station halfway around the five mile loop. Post race meal will commence mid-afternoon.
Awards
Very nice hand-crafted awards from a local artisan to top three men and women. All solo runners completing 10 loops will become members of the Cacapon 50 Mile Club and receive a commemorative pint glass to recognize this achievement. Finisher awards for everyone who completes at least one loop.
NEW FOR 2024!
For year 12, we will be running the loop in the opposite direction! Will this make it harder, easier, or no different? We'll find out in July! Also, packet pickup Friday night is at Trail Depot in Berkeley Springs, not at the Batt Shelter!
