Tour de Trail Series

We are so excited to kick off another year of our Tour de Trail 10kish series! The goal for this series has always been to introduce runners and hikers to many of the amazing trail systems that run throughout the KC area. We are proud that $5 of every entry fee goes to Urban Trail Co, our local 501c3 organization that helps build and maintain the trails in the KC area. If you love these trails like we do, we encourage you to check out their website, sign up to volunteer and get involved with building and maintaining our trails! Urbantrailco.com

The 2026 Tour de Trail series will be at 6 different trails throughout the summer. You can sign up for all 6 or just run one or a few.
As always we are offering discounted pricing if you sign up for all 6 races at once.. but you must sign up before May 22nd on Ultra Signup to receive the discount. The races are $50 each or you can sign up for all 6 for $265 ($35 savings!).
If you complete all 6 races in the series, you will receive a special piece of swag. In past years we have given out locally made mugs and custom sweatshirts. Sweatpants were requested last year by a few folks and we think a cozy pair of sweatpants will be perfect to put on after the November 14th race!

All the races in the series are in the 10k ISH range, they will range anywhere from 5 1/2 miles- 6 1/2 miles depending on the trail systems and conditions. We try and get them as close to 10K as possible. We welcome runners and hikers and allow 4 hours to finish the race. Due to our permit with the parks, we have to break down and pack up our gear by 11:30am, but the RD will be there with a cowbell and cold drinks even if you take longer than 4 hours!

Due to the nature of trail running in the Kansas City area, there is always the possibility of trail closures due to rain. We will have an alternate course option in the event of a closed trail. Alternate courses will be cross country, equestrian trails, paved trail or a combo. We work with Urban Trail Co, the land managers and trail stewards to ensure that we do not damage the trails and we always abide by their trail closure decisions. We encourage all runners to always check urbantrailco.com before heading out to any KC trail to ensure the trails are open!

Aid:
Water only. We do not require participants to run with water, though we highly recommend it, particularly in the summer months. You must provide your own hydration device such as a handheld or hydration vest. All of our races are cupless, so if you would like water at the aid station you must have your own device or cup. We will have cold fizzy water, soda and some light snacks at the finish line.

NO littering! Please be sure that you pack out any gum wrappers, tissues or bottles that you use on course. Litterers will be subject to public flogging, humiliation and disqualification.

No alcohol allowed in Johnson County parks.
Dogs are allowed. Dogs must be leashed and under control at all times and you must pick up after your dog. Runners will be subject to disqualification if these rules are not adhered to.
This is a cupless event. You are responsible for providing your own hydration device (see aid section).

Markings: Course will be marked using distinctive flagging/markings and will be explained in the pre race briefing.
Road crossings: some of the races will have road crossings. Runners are responsible for their own safe crossing. Please check carefully for cars and/or bikes. Parks and roads will remain open during the races, so please be polite and courteous to other trail users you may encounter.
Personal music devices are allowed as long as headphones are used and you maintain a volume that allows you to hear other runners. We recommend either one earbud or bone conducting headphones. NO SPEAKERS. These are single track courses and passing will be tight, please be courteous to other runners and stay alert.

Runners will receive a sticker branded specifically for each trail system/race.
All registrants will receive a special piece of swag. They are one per person regardless of how many TDT stages are run.

Awards:
Each race will have first, second, & third woman, man, & non-binary podiums.

We Are Part of the Trail Mix Fund!

Do you want to race but can’t afford the entry fee? Are you a part of the BIPOC or LGBTQ+ community? Apply to the Trail Mix Fund to have your registration fee waived. You can learn more on the website: https://trailmixfund.org/

In an effort to improve the diversity in trail racing and remove a potential barrier for the under-served and under-represented, we've partnered up with the Trail Mix Fund, a 501(3)c non-profit. While we all like to think this sport is accessible – “you just need a pair of shoes” – that just isn’t always the case. The Trail Mix Fund is available to anyone wanting to run a race who could use some assistance in paying for it and for those from the BIPOC & LGBTQ+ communities. During registration, we are accepting donations to their organization. All donations made here go directly to the Trail Mix Fund, not to this race. Please consider helping this organization by donating!
