Trails & Rails
Come and run in the Beautiful Sacramento Mountains of Cloudcroft, New Mexico at an elevation of 8,676'. You will run on the historic rail road beds that helped to established Cloudcroft in the late 1800's as well as the old highway that replaced the railway in the 1930's. There is also some good single track in there as well.
The races start and finish at the Trestle Recreation Area at the intersection of Hwy 82 and 130 where the replicated depot is located.
We start promptly at 8:00 am with the 1 mile Kid's dash that takes place on the paved loop - 4 laps of FUN for kid's 10 and younger - strollers allowed! Every racers receives a dog tag and the top 3 receive a medal!
At 8:30 the 8 milers take off followed at 8:40 for the 3 milers - They also start with 1 loop on the pavement to prevent a bottleneck at the trailhead. The 8 milers trail is available to view at https://www.strava.com/activities/380130558
It has approximately 1350 foot in elevation gain and loss.

It has and elevation gain/loss of approximately 576'.
Both races have some spectacular views of the Tularosa Basin 4000' below.
Prizes to Overall Male & Female in the 3 and 8 mile.
Medals to Top 3 finishers in male & female age groups
under 10, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & Over
There will be three aid stations along the way with fruit and water for the 8 mile and the 3 mile course will have one aid station.
We will have coffee and pastries before the race and breakfast burritos after provided by one of Cloudcroft Schools activity groups.
All the proceeds from the race go to the Cloudcroft School Activity groups who are out there on the course at the aid stations or behind the scenes making the food!!

Individual registration:
8 mile $40 through May 29th $45 May 31st and race day
3 mile $35 through May 29th $40 May 31st and race day
Kid’s 1 mile Dash: $10.00 through May 29th and $15.00 May 31st and race day
PRE-REGISTERED (BY May 12, 2024) RUNNERS & WALKERS WILL RECEIVE RACE T-SHIRT
after that date, shirt or size not guaranteed.

RACE DAY PACKET PICK UP: @ start line 7:00 a.m.-7:45 a.m.
The Trestle Recreation area will be CLOSED TO PARKING on race day. There is plenty of parking within walking distance nearby so plan accordingly.
The Cloudcroft Village is a unique small tourist area with many restaurants and shops - many of which sponsor our race so plan some time before or after to visit and explore!!
Strollers are ONLY allowed in the 1 Mile Kid's Dash. Due to our insurance - NO DOGS ALLOWED. Thanks and bring your pup back another day to explore with you!!
