THE VIBE:

Winding Way Run Co. exists to put together trail and ultra running events where all (runners and volunteers alike) can take part in one of the most supportive communities out there. Some runners will push each other as they vie for a podium, some will link up with others for great conversation, some will struggle to make the time limit, and others will be working the aid stations instead of running - we're here for ALL of it!

THE COURSE:

Welcome to the trails of First Landing State Park, a true breath of fresh air nestled in the corner of Virginia Beach! There will be roots, bridges, sandy sections, and beautiful scenery through the gently rolling trails that offer approximately 300 feet of elevation gain. Whether you're aiming for a chunk of wood that tells you you're number one or you're just hoping you can finish, our generous 4 hour cutoff time invites all to join in the trail celebration!

THE SUPPORT:

Runners will be supported by aid stations 4 times along the course. Aid stations will be stocked with Tailwind, water, soda, and.... who knows what other goodies those awesome volunteers will have... it IS Halloween time, after all! At the finish line, after receiving high fives/fist bumps/hugs/whatever congratulatory gesture you're most comfortable with, we'll have donuts from local food truck Glazed and Infuzed waiting for you!

SWAG & AWARDS:

All runners and volunteers will receive a shirt and all Haunts & Hallows finishers will earn a finisher beanie. Top finisher awards will be given to the top three male and female, as well as top male and female juniors (under 21), masters (40-49), grand masters (50-59), and super masters (60 and over). We'll also have a photographer on course and photos will be free to download.

RUNNERS MUST REGISTER BY SEPTEMBER 26TH TO BE GUARANTEED THEIR SHIRT SIZE. We will do our best to get runners who register after that date the shirt size of their choosing, but cannot guarantee it due to ordering and printing turnaround times.

RACE CHARITY:

Winding Way Run Co. will make a donation to AIDNOW on behalf of the Haunts & Hallows Half Marathon event. Additionally, we will offer the opportunity for runners to make a donation when they register for the event.

From their site: "AIDNOW exists to raise the quality of life for disadvantaged people, domestically and internationally. We carry this out by coordinating resources, facilitating community bonding, and providing hope through service."

REFUND POLICY:

Except for our Pregnancy & Postpartum that we've adopted as part of the Trail Sisters Approved Standards that Winding Way Run Co. applies to its events, all refunds are non-refundable and non-transferrable, whether to another individual or another race year. Like many other race companies in this community, we've adopted this policy because there are significant up front costs to putting on these types of events and many of those expenses occur months in advance of race day. (In the event this race meets capacity and we have a waitlist to draw from, we will re-evaluate this policy.) Thank you for understanding.
