Welcome, Brave Adventurers
Return to the realm. On March 13, 2027, Bad Luck Run Club brings back Auburn's most legendary fantasy trail run, The Quest! Adventure Run. This year's event will be bigger, bolder, and with even more chaos waiting in the woods. Choose your path: a 6 mile sprint through the realm or a 12 mile odyssey. Expect a mini Renaissance Faire, with vendors, music, & food. The Journey both begins and ends at Ponderosa Cider Co. in Auburn, CA, your tavern of choice before and after battle.
How The Quest! Works
The Quest! Spellbook
Step 1: Register for the race. Register on UltraSignup
Step 2: Open our The Quest! Spellbook. Your class, your party, the rules, the map, race day quests, and results all live here.
Choose Your Class
Every registered adventurer rolls a virtual d20 to become a Frog Knight, Mage, Rogue, Bard, Druid, or Knight. Your class sets your strength, ability, and party bonus. One roll each. The d20 is final. Roll for your class here.
Form a Party
Team up with 2 to 3 runners to unlock party bonuses that take time off your result. Each class counts once, so mix it up. No crew? Find us at check in. Create or join a party
Side Quests
Riddles, scavenger hunts, physical challenges, and missing Goblins are scattered along the route. Finish a quest, scan the QR sign, and the time comes off. Trials cost you if you skip or fail them. Open the Runners Hub here.
Hunt the Bosses
Legendary creatures roam the course. Find them, face them, collect your reward. A natural 20 makes it bigger.
Quest Gear
A custom d20, an official shirt, a class trinket, a quest map, and a post race cider from Ponderosa Cider Co. Your trinket powers your class ability once: hand it to a volunteer boss and perform your class's act. Costumes strongly encouraged. They don't need to match your class, just honor the realm.
Your Fate Awaits
Results post in the Hub after the race, showing every minute added or taken off and where you landed. Speed, cunning, and quest mastery crown the Champion of the Realm. See initial results here.

Volunteering
Every race here only happens because volunteers show up to run it, aid stations, course marshals, packet pickup, all of it. Give one shift and you're not just helping runners finish, you're getting $120 credit toward any BLRC race for your trouble. Show up, hand out some water, make a few new friends, and walk away with credit toward your next start line.
