An Epic 5-day African Adventure
TRAVERSE Tanzania is the ultimate 5-day running event in the scenic and seldom traveled backcountry of northern Tanzania. Solo runners and relay teams cover 140 miles from Mount Kilimanjaro to Lake Natron, experiencing stunning landscapes, extraordinary wildlife areas, and Tanzanian culture and hospitality along the way.
About the Event
TRAVERSE RUN offers five stages of varied terrain, amazing scenery, and wildlife viewing. The course is raceable by the experienced, challenging to adventurers, and rewarding for all.
But TRAVERSE is also your opportunity to use your passion for ultra running to invest in African communities. TRAVERSE accomplishes good in Tanzania through education-based initiatives in the areas of agriculture, livelihoods, and sport.

Race Information
Course Details
The 2026 event will consist of:
- Total distance approximately 235km (145 mi)
- 5 stages of 35-60km (22-37mi) each
- Total climbing 3500+m (11500ft)
- Extremely varied terrain, geography and temperatures
- Some very technical terrain, dust, and a lot of thorns
- A climb to 3450m (11300ft) elevation on Kilimanjaro’s Shira Plateau
- The best finish line in sport — the hot springs at Lake Natron

Registration Includes:
- Shared accomodation for 7 nights - Standard tent with quality ground mattress and pillow
- 5 days of running
- Transfers from Kilimanjaro Airport & return + all transport during event
- 3 meals per day + stocked feed zones on course
- Water, hydration formula, coffee, tea, soda, beer, and wine
- Park fees, concessions, levies, and taxes
- Medical services & emergency evacuation
