Backyard Ultra format is simple — and that’s what makes it brutal. Runners complete a loop every hour on the hour. Miss the cutoff, and you’re out. Keep going until only one runner remains.
This isn’t just a race. It’s a battle of willpower, community, and the quiet voice inside that says
one more loop.
The Details
- The Date: May 30, 2026
- The Loop: 3 1/3 mile course designed to challenge without breaking you — until it does.
- The Clock: A new loop starts every hour. If you’re not in the starting corral when the bell rings, your race is over.
- The Goal: Outlast everyone else. There is no finish line — only the last runner standing after 30 hours. Hey the RD needs sleep, too! In the event that multiple runners finish all 30 hours, the runner who crosses the line first on the final lap is the winner.
- The Spirit: Equal parts competition and camaraderie. You’ll suffer, laugh, and share miles with people who understand why this matters.
- The Calories:As this is a 30-hr event and each person has their own individual nutritional needs, we encourage you to bring what you know works for you. We will provide simple items like water, Mapleaid, fruit, candy, chips, pickles, coffee, etc. Additionally, to keep the intimate nature of this event, we invite you to bring food for a communal aid station table. Do you make killer brownies? Are your chocolate chip cookies better than Mama Kapfer's? Do you live on a fruit farm and have an abundance? Are you a gnocchi fan? Bring it all! Additionally, we will provide pizza at some point in the evening for those who are still making laps. We will have some cups, but please bring your own to cut down on waste.
The Venue
Trenton Fish and Game Club – 8001 Wood Rd, Holland Patent, NY 13354
The course is run on the non-technical hiking/ski trails that wind through the pines and open hardwoods of the Trenton Fish and Game Club. The course is primarily rolling double track with an out and back dirt road section. Each lap has about 200′ of total ascent.
