Tour De Wolf Trails

The Tour de Wolf Trail at Shelby Farms Park in Memphis, TN is a scenic singletrack trail system featuring flowing dirt trails through thick forests, open meadows, and peaceful lake views. The trail offers a fun mix of smooth runnable sections, gentle rolling hills, and natural dirt terrain that makes it perfect for trail runners, hikers, and mountain bikers alike.

In August, the trails are typically hot, fast, and dry, creating great conditions for runners looking to enjoy smooth summer miles through Shelby Farms Park. The shaded wooded sections mixed with occasional open fields provide a great balance of scenery throughout the course. Wildlife sightings are also common along the trail system.

One of the most memorable sections of the route is the run across the Beaver Lake levee heading toward the finish line at Beaver Lake Pavilion, offering wide-open views of the water and a unique finish experience. The Tour de Wolf trail system also connects easily with other areas throughout Shelby Farms Park, allowing for longer and more adventurous routes across the park.

Race Information

You are welcome to bring your own bag with drinks, nutrition, and personal supplies and leave it at the Tour de Wolf Pavilion, which will serve as both the Start and Finish Line area. Porta potties will be available at the start line, and a nearby restroom with running water is also accessible.

This is a cupless race, so all runners must carry their own cup, flask, handheld bottle, or hydration vest for water during the event.

The 5 Miler will have water stations located around miles 1.5 and 3.5. The 10 Miler is two loops of the 5-mile course and will have water stations around miles 1.5, 3.5, 5, 6.5, and 8.5. Please note that aid stations will provide water only. Food and additional refreshments will be available at the 5-mile mark for the 10 milers.

If trail conditions remain dry, road shoes should work fine for the course, although trail shoes are also recommended. The race will be professionally chip timed, so please wear your bib on the front and keep your number visible at all times.

Photography

All race photos taken during the Cobra Den Trail Series will be free for participants to download after each event. Mamba Trail Runners has covered the full cost of photography throughout the entire series, and the same photographer will be capturing all four races to help showcase the runners, trails, community, and overall atmosphere of the summer series. We will also be creating a Cobra Den Trail Series documentary featuring highlights and moments from all four events.

Post Race

Please stick around after the race as we recognize the Top 3 Overall Male and Female finishers, along with Age Group Award winners for both the 5 Miler and 10 Miler. While waiting for awards, enjoy snacks, drinks, cooling towels, music, and time with the trail running community.

We will begin with the 5 Miler awards first, followed by the 10 Miler awards, which are expected to take place around 10:00 AM depending on finish times. We would love for everyone to stay, cheer on fellow runners, and celebrate a great morning on the trails together.

Refunds

There are no refunds in each race or series of the Cobra Den Trail Races. Money has already been spent reserving the park trails, parking, porta pottys, food, etc.

There are no roll-over credits to another race.

Weather

The race takes place during the summer months, and Memphis is known for its intense heat and humidity. Each race will begin promptly at 7:00 AM to help beat the worst of the heat. However, caution is advised, as the conditions can still be challenging. Summer storms are also common in Memphis—some brief, others potentially severe. The Race Director reserves the right to delay or cancel the event if weather conditions pose a risk to runner safety. While every effort will be made to start the race on time, the safety of all participants is our top priority.
