This Event Took Place Sat. May 24, 2014

The Paul Smith's College VIC

With over 40 kilometers of trails across 3,000 acres of forest, mountains, bogs, and streams, we've got the perfect place for you to get in touch with the Adirondacks. The mission of the VIC is to facilitate accessible outdoor experiences of Adirondack ecosystems through education, recreation, research and the arts.

Jenkins Mountain Scramble 10k

The JMS 10k kicks off at 11 AM and immediately takes you cruising down along the edge of Heron Marsh. The course passes over Shingle Mills Falls bridge and follows a shaded forest trail. After kicking you out onto dirt logging roads, you'll duck back into the woods and head onto technical single-track along the tranquil shores of Black and Long ponds. At the 7k mark the 10k course sends you back to the VIC via Loggers Lope, a rolling wooded trail.

Jenkins Mountain Scramble Half Marathon

The JMS Half Marathon starts at 10:30 AM and follows the same course as the 10k. At the 7k mark, the Half Marathon turns up the forest road and begins the single track climb to the Summit of Jenkins Mountain (elev. 2,513 ft). The gradually climbs on single-track through shaded hardwoods. Upon reaching the summit of Jenkins, the Half Marathon racers return on the same route back to the base on the single-track. Upon arrival at the base, racers will return to the VIC via Loggers Loop. Finishing on our 1,600 ft boardwalk through a bog habitat to the finish line.
