The Orcas Island 50k is unique in the trail running world, with old-growth forests, tough climbs, and spectacular views of surrounding islands, mountains, and Puget Sound - but what truly sets it apart is the chance to hang out all weekend on a gorgeous island with your trail runner friends.
Local time: 3:49 PM
This loop course has approximately 8400 ft of elevation gain and has four fully stocked aid stations, at miles 6.4, 14.2, 20.6, and 25.8.
Registration is a lottery so interested participants will have from July 15, 2017 to July 25, 2017 to register for the lottery.
We will draw names and announce the list of runners who made it into the race no later than August 1st, 2017. Participants will enter their credit card information during the lottery registration, but the cards are not charged unless the participants name is chosen. Anyone who does not make it in to the race will have no charge.
Runners will have 9 hours to complete the course. As with all of our Rainshadow Running events, our finish line will have plenty of wood-fired pizza, local beer, and live bluegrass music. There is no camping at the finish area, but runners and spectators can purchase bunkhouse lodging during registration. There is also plenty of camping nearby in Moran State Park at Cascade Lake and Mountain Lake.
These are the oldest of all the Rainshadow running races - Races that will leave you wondering: Why run anywhere else?
