Scenic single-track trail, five mile loop, moderately to very technical. A few road crossings on lightly-traveled park roads. Some stream crossings are possible, depending on recent rainfall. Trail is very well-marked and maintained. This trail would be classified (4,4) by the Ultrarunning.com scale. Approximately 750 feet elevation change per loop. This trail will challenge the most seasoned runner! COVID-19 UPDATE FOR 2020 AND 2021: NO AID STATIONS, ALL RUNNERS ARE SELF-CREWED!
12 Hour Relay
Relay teams are welcome, any number of runners per team. All relays are just for fun and bragging rights, no awards will be given (subject to change if we have increased relay entries). If you are interested in signing up for the relay division, please contact RD at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Cost is same per runner as individual.
Very nice hand-crafted awards from a local artisan to top three men and women. All solo runners completing 10 loops will become members of the Cacapon 50 Mile Club and receive a commemorative pint glass to recognize this achievement.
The 2021 Cacapon 12 Hour Challenge is a go! As in 2020, all runners will be self-crewed. There will be NO communal aid stations and no hydration or nutrition provided. The entry fee has been decreased by $25 from previous years and all runners will need to bring plenty of food, ice and fluids to meet your needs on race day. The race venue has lots of space for everyone to spread out and set yourself up a spot either at your vehicle or in the area surrounding the start/finish area.
