THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED
With consideration of the COVID-19 outbreak, we will be monitoring events and making a final decision at the beginning of May, on whether or not Run for the Hills will proceed this year. The decision to deliver this event or not is not taken lightly. A number of factors will go into our decision. For now, registrations will go directly to a wait-list. If the decision is to proceed with the event, those on the wait-list will be automatically registered. Please check back in the first week of May for more info. Until then you may add yourself to the wait-list to secure a spot.
Again this year the 30k trail course uses the entire 8k course and adds a trip up to Fitton Green Natural Area for some awesome views. It also incorporates the scenic Mulkey Creek trail, as well as the new Amy's trail and Crestmont Land Trust trails. The course is challenging due to the hills, but the great views and nice trails are worth the effort.
The 8k trail run remains the same challenging course of mostly hills and a few flat stretches in Bald Hill Park, with about 1.4 miles of paved path and 3.6 miles of dirt trails. The noncompetitive 2mi run/walk will be almost entirely on paved paths. The ¼ mi. kids run starts out paved and ends on dirt at the finish line.
The overall male and female winners and the top three in each age group will receive awards/certificates.
There will be three aid stations on the 30k and one aid station on the 8k. All will be serving water and sports drinks. The Fitton Green aid station (passed twice) will also have a buffet of ultra race snacks. The finish will be stocked with fresh fruit and other great refreshments.
Most of the trails in the Corvallis area are maintained by volunteers from groups like Greenbelt Land Trust, the Mary's River Chapter of the Sierra Club, the Boy Scouts, and many others.
Proceeds of this event benefit the Greenbelt Land Trust Trail Fund. This fund helps purchase raw materials and equipment used for trail construction and maintenance by the volunteers who keep our trails safe and passable for users. Over $50,000 has been raised in the last twelve years through this race.
