Updated: August 26, 2020 - In response to the current COVID-19 situation. At this time, we still have the thumbs up from the Equestrian Center, USATF, and MCM Timing/Results to hold the race over Labor Day weekend. We as race directors, volunteers, officials, employees, facility directors, etc. are making every effort to ensure that this will be a safe event for those participating and those responsible for working the event. Our goals include: providing clear and up front communication, making sure that runners are aware that they need to wear a mask/buff at the start/finish line and aid station area, and taking the additional steps:
We are doing staggered start times for all races/distances, starting with the 15 mile runners at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 5. We will have 3 runners starting every 1 minute (follow-up email will be sent out to all registered runners the week of the race with your scheduled time along with a comprehensive and detailed Runners Information packet), and total entry limit will be set at 125 participants. All registered participants will have a scheduled time to pick up their packets on Friday starting at 5:30 p.m. and on Saturday morning starting at 5:00 a.m. (scheduled will be emailed week of the race). We will be practicing social distancing, wearing masks (each runner will receive a Wildcat buff which can be used as a face mask) and making sure that the entire aid station area is sanitized, clean, and safe for participants and staff. For example, at the aid station, we will have individual serving sizes for each item sealed in ziplock plastic bags.
As always, we will be continuing to add to this section, sending out follow-up emails, posting on social media, and lastly, welcoming any and all emails, text messages, and Facebook messages with questions.
The Escambia County Equestrian Center, a 178-acre park will be the venue for the 7th Annual Wildcat Ultramarathon. Register by August 1st to receive custom bib number with your name printed on it, and guaranteed shirt size. This race will be a USATF sanctioned and insured event (ID Number 20-14-092). The Wildcat Ultras are the perfect "First" 100 mile or 100k run. The course will consist of a 2.5 mile loop that is comprised of mostly grass and dirt. The elevation gain/loss is very minimal. This 5k course (2.5 mile section) has been used to host the FHSAA Cross Country 2A District and Regional Championships, Gulf Coast Stampede, and Esca-Rosa Panhandle Championships. Please check your email the last week of August and make sure you go through the runner's packet as there will be important details listed in there that may not appear elsewhere.
