Cancelled Event

Hello Broken Goat family,

On behalf of the entire PACE team, we want to thank you for all the unwavering support and patience as we all move through this uncertain time.

These are truly uncharted times and we have been very closely monitoring information and updates around COVID-19, in conjunction with BC recommendations. The situation has been changing on a daily, if not hourly, basis and recent Provincial Health Officer forecasts are that this pandemic and ensuing social distancing guidelines, particularly as it relates to events, will not change soon. While we were hopeful we could consider a postponement, we have made the heart-breaking decision to CANCEL the July 18, 2020, Broken Goat trail race.

Please understand that this decision did not come lightly. Honestly, one of the hardest parts is that we feel like we are taking “one more thing away” from a community we care deeply for and that we know is trying to hold onto things that bring us joy right now. It breaks our hearts. Having said that, we feel assured this is the right thing to do and we are confident that our community will only grow stronger as we make our way through this.

An email was sent to all registered racers with full details on April 2nd. It would have been sent to the email you use to log into your Ultra SignUp account. Please email us if you didn't receive it: - Thank you.

Although our event has been cancelled, we have created a fun NO GOAT, YES GOAT CHALLENGE for our racers to help them stay connected with their goals and win some great prizes from our sponsors Hammer Nutrition Canada and Salomon. Be sure to check out our facebook page: NO GOAT, YES GOAT ACCOUNTABILITY CHALLENGE or email Hannah at for details.

Broken Goat is BC's most rustic ultra. This unique point to point race takes runners up 4 peaks & 2 ridges along the 7summits trail & Red Mountain Resort, in Rossland, BC. Runners should expect a mix of single track and alpine trails with some peaks only having ribbon marking your way. Rossland is located approximately halfway between Vancouver and Calgary on Highway 3B, only 6 kilometers north of the U.S. border.

The 50k point to point route takes place on the beautiful “7 Summits” high alpine ridge trail while accessing several peaks & ridges via short, steep side trips along the way. The race proceeds along the peaks and ridges in the following order: Mt Plewman (2241m/7350ft), Unnecessary Ridge (2100m/6,888ft), Old Glory Mtn (2376m/7800ft), Record Ridge (1760m/5,772ft) Granite Mtn (2036m/6700ft), and finishes by climbing up Red Mtn (1591m/5218ft).

The Broken Goat 25k course follows the same route as the 50k course, only it doesn't include any of the side trips/summits along the way. Runners will be spoiled running along the “7 Summits” trail as it is one of the premier trails in the West Kootenays. Not to mention, the trail cruises at an average elevation of almost 2000m (6560ft). Runners will want to save some legs for the demanding descent on a mix of forest service road and amazing single track which will lead them into the finish at the base of Red Mountain Resort.

The Broken Goat 12km course starts off at the base of Red Mountain Resort before taking runners straight up a super steep single track trail to the top of Red Mountain. It will be worth your effort, as from here runners can expect to run on some of the nicest single track this area has to offer! Mega views. Mega fun.
