Come join the CT Trailmixers for the second running of the Fall Fling trail races on the beautiful but challenging trails of YMCA Camp Sloper in Southington, Connecticut. Choose from two race options:
• The Fall Fling 400: Run as many loops of the two-mile trail course as you’d like as long as you're done within 400 minutes (6 hours 40 minutes). The last loop must be completed before 400 minutes for it to count.
• 5k: A course that combines some of the same trails with fields and woods.
This is a great opportunity to give trail running a try, especially if you’re fresh off one of Connecticut’s many fall road races.

Fall Fling 400 Ultra Trail and Course Description
The main course is a somewhat technical roughly two-mile loop with moderately rolling hills and about 275 feet of elevation gain. It's run mostly on trails, but includes some grass sections. Parts of the course are covered with rocks and roots, while other sections are smoother. The course will be marked. 400-minute run participants will complete as many two-mile loops as they’d like within the six-hour 40-minute timeframe.
5k Run Trail and Course Description
5k participants will run one loop of a separate course at Camp Sloper that combines some of the same trails with hills, fields, and woods.
Fall Fling 400 ultra: $40 (before November 8) / $50 (race day)
5k: $20 (before November 8) / $30 (race day)
The fees help cover the costs related to this event, including food, supplies, and equipment. (Thank you!) Please note there are no refunds.
Online pre-registration ends Wednesday November 8.
Dues-paying members of the CT Trailmixers pay half-price with pre-registration, and will be sent the discount code separately. If you would like to become a dues-paying member of the CT Trailmixers club to receive the registration discount, please mail $20 to Michael Lo Presti, 55 Marboy Drive, Plantsville, CT, 06479 along with your name, address, phone number, and email address. Registration limits: 125 for the ultra, 75 for the 5k.
The two-mile loop will start and finish at the main pavilion at Camp Sloper. We’ll use a chip timing system, so your laps will be counted automatically and results will be available soon after the race is done.
Runners will have access to traditional basic trail ultra food, such as fruit, potatoes, chips, candies, cookies, water and electrolyte replacement liquid. The CT Trailmixers love to bake, so you’ll have plenty of access to cookies, brownies, and other goodies as well. If you have specific nutritional needs, please bring your own stuff. You’ll be able to keep a drop bag at the main pavilion.
Friends and family are welcome to hang out during the day and cheer you on. There’s plenty to do at Camp Sloper, including a playground, soccer fields, and a huge super slide.
