Update to 2020 Race: Canceled
Due to the challenges associated with planning group events for early fall, we have made the tough decision to cancel the 2020 version of Free to Run Trail Races at this time. Unfortunately there are still just too many unknowns around items like permits, rules for group events in MA, and necessary safety guidelines we would be required to implement for us to get comfortable opening up registration in time to effectively put on the race. Registered runners will be getting an email soon with more details on options for their registration fees which include deferral, refund, or donation. Lastly, Free to Run is very near and dear to our hearts and while we won’t be able raise funds through the race this year we will still be fundraising as a group in a different capacity this fall so please keep your eye out for details about that later this summer.
Free to Run
The Berkshire Ultra Running Community for Service (BURCS) is excited to host year 6 of these great (and challenging) trail races in support of the amazing organization, Free to Run. Free to Run is a nonprofit that uses running, physical fitness, and outdoor adventure as a means of empowering and educating females in conflict-affected communities. It was founded by Stephanie Case, a competitive ultra runner who you may also know from her popular blog (Ultrarunnergirl.com). Please be sure to check out FreetoRun.org to learn about the great work they are doing around the world.
All race proceeds will go direct to Free to Run. As with all BURCS races, we also encourage runners to raise awareness and funds on their own if they feel moved to do so.
We look forward to seeing you on the course!
