Howling on Mt. Hood!
Welcome to the Wy'east Howl, offering wildly scenic and runnable 100K, 50K and half marathon trail running races on Mt. Hood and its surrounding ridgelines, including the iconic Timberline Trail. As the only ultramarathons and half marathon held on the slopes of Mt. Hood proper, the event provides a super up-close, unique and beautiful trail race experience. Each race features extensive views of Wy'east (the native name for Mt. Hood) and miles of runnable singletrack trails through Pacific NW forest, lush wildflower meadows and exposed ridgelines.

Mt. Hood Meadows
The event is staged at Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Lodge, offering an accessible, family-friendly full service venue right on the mountain. Meadows is locally owned and operated and will host all the event activities that aren’t out on the trails, including secure parking, runner check-in, restrooms, food service and shuttle buses to the 50K start line. Car camping will be allowed in the main parking lot the Friday night before the race for a small fee upon arrival.
The 100K starts and finishes at Mt. Hood Meadows. The course tours the iconic Timberline Trail and other trails on Mt. Hood before following scenic ridgeline trails and some rugged historic double track roads to the east of the mountain, then back up onto Mt. Hood for the finish at Mt. Hood Meadows main lodge patio. The views are relentless as will be the challenge, but after all that's why we're here :) Nine aid stations are offered on this out and back course, with 11,600' of ascent and 11,600' of descent, for a true mountain ultra trail challenge. Refer to the race website for in depth course details.
The 50K is a gorgeous and fun point-to-point course starting over on Surveyor's Ridge east of the mountain and finishing at Mt. Hood Meadows! The course follows ridgeline trails, some rugged double track jeep roads, then more exquisite single track including the Timberline Trail onto Mt. Hood for the finish on the main lodge patio at Mt. Hood Meadows. Four full aid stations are offered, involving 6500' of ascent and 5100' of descent. Refer to the race website for in depth course details.
The only trail half marathon course on the slopes of Mt. Hood! The course offers magnificent views and a fun lollipop loop-style course run entirely on the volcano, starting and finishing at Mt. Hood Meadows main lodge. The course travels through a diverse range of forest and wildflower meadows and presents an honest mountain challenge featuring 2,650' of elevation gain and 2,650' of loss over 13.1 miles.
