This run is located in Washoe State Park east of East Lake Road. 5K & 10K+ courses are a combo of jeep road and single track trail with some technical sections and steep hills. Both courses offer spectacular views of Carson City and Washoe Valley. Course distances and routes are subject to change due to trail and weather conditions.
UPDATE 2/26/19: OK, this year is a tricky one. I've been out there scouting but there has continued to be areas with really deep snow. There was a big melt last night with the warm temps and rain which has changed trail conditions but there is more moisture on it's way. What shape and form it will be in when it hits the ground no one knows. I'm anticipating I'll need to improvise race morning. Course distances will probably stay close to traditional 5K & 10K distances. Come ready for whatever, because that's whats gonna be served up.
Dog Policy - Our policy is that we really like dogs and that’s why we have one of our own, but officially dogs are not permitted to be on the course. Because the Winter Trail Series is comprised of a group of casual runs we haven’t officially enforced this policy as long as everyone is behaving and having fun. We’ve always assumed that everyone would be responsible trail runners and would consider the suitability of their dog sharing the trail with respect to their fellow trail runners. As we continue to grow, having dogs on the course has started to become a safety issue. Typically our next phase would be to enforce an “All Dogs on Leash” rule. If there continued to be issues or concerns then we would progress to an unfortunate “Sorry, No Dogs Allowed” rule. Considering the weather and trail conditions we will encounter this weekend I’m going to ask that you leave your furry friends at home. Sections of trail will be wet, washed out, technical and narrow and not ideal for four-leg creatures roaming around your feet. We really appreciate your understanding and cooperation on this one. Thanks and we look forward to running with you on Saturday.

All runners, whether pre-registered or not, must check with their bib# on race morning! We want to have an accurate head count as to who is out on the course. Thank you. Washoe State Park. Runs start at 9AM
This is the fifth and last run of 5 trail runs in the 10th Annual Be Bold, Run in the Cold Winter Trail Series presented by Ascent Runs. Every run in the series will have two distances to choose from, a 5Kish and a 10K+. The 5K will usually be between 3-4 miles. The 10K+ will be anywhere between 6-9.5 miles depending on conditions. If it’s nice we make it 7,8 or 9ish miles. If it’s not so nice we keep it close to 6 miles. Be sure to check website and Facebook the week leading up to the run for updates. These casual runs were created to keep runners and walker motivated through the winter months and also as a way to supplement your winter training. This series highlights the extensive trail networks surrounding Carson City, NV. There are no aid stations out on the courses so be prepared to carry your own water or sports drink. For the safety of all runners and to keep you guessing, event organizers reserve the right to change course routes and distances based on weather conditions or just for the heck of it. This series is a great trainer for the Triple Trail Challenge- Spring Edition. The Triple Trail Challenge includes Carson Canyons Half Marathon on April 6, 2019, Escape From Prison Hill(EFPH) Half Marathon on April 20, and the Silver State Half Marathon on May 18.
What, no awards. Just the sweet satisfaction that you overcame the urge to sleep in on a cold winter morning and to go out and burn off some calories that were feeling way to at home.
Bibs and shirts can be picked up the morning of the run. All runners, including returning series runners, must check in prior to the start of the run. This is to ensure that we have an accurate head count to who is out there. Thank you.
