The Delaware Water Gap…the scenic Delaware River framed by thousand foot hillsides, steeped in Native and Early American History, inspiring throughout. In the mid 1900’s active communities through the Gap were claimed on behalf of a planned hydroelectric dam project. Public, environmental activist, and political resistance to the project, paired w/ a finding of proximity to a geologic fault line halted the project and the land was transferred to public hands as a National Recreation area.
The McDade Trail, 32 miles point to point and traversing the gap, will serve as the course for the Water Gap 50k and 25k. A great mix ranging from rail-trail feeling cinder path to singletrack, the non-technical and rolling McDade Trail is a perfect venue for a relatively fast and scenic fall trail race.
Each entry fee covers the event production, a finishers item of some sort (such as pint glass and/or medal), post-race food (most likely sticking with chili theme), a bus ticket to the start, and with $5 donated back to those maintaining the trails we're using. A long sleeve and hoodie option will be available as add-on's.
