Mountain Magic 5/10/25k Trail Run
June 22, 2019
Mt. Spokane State Park Nordic Ski Trails - Selkirk Lodge
Celebrate the first day of summer on some of Spokane's most enchanting trails! Wide-open views, rolling terrain and mostly-non-technical running make for a fast and free running experience. The 5k loop--new for this year--is a winding, hilly run along wide paths among the pines. The 10k includes the 5k loop plus another 5k portion with intermediate elevation (by mountain trail run standards); while the 15k loop, which is run after the 10k loop to make the 25k course, includes some reasonably challenging elevations throughout.
The trails are wide and airy, but a lot of it is still basically single-track, so you get sunshine and some great views along the way. It’s also one of the less technical trail runs in the area, without a lot of rocks to trip you up, so you can get up a good rhythm. And it’s flat-out gorgeous, especially at this time of year.
If you're new to trail running, you may not find it super easy, but it'll be a super satisfying introduction to the joy of heading off the paved track. If you're a seasoned trail runner, this is a race to remember. Expect a fun vibe and hearty post-race refreshments.
Dogs: I know your dog is the best ever, but please him or her at home for this event.
Water: To keep nature pure and aid in clean-up, this is a cupless event. If you will want water at the aid station, please bring a hand-held or disposable bottle.
