Mountain Magic 5/10/25k Trail Run
June 20, 2020
Mt. Spokane State Park Nordic Ski Trails - Selkirk Lodge
Come on up for the third year of Mountain Magic and run the enchanting Nordic ski trails on Mt. Spokane with us! Wide-open views, rolling terrain and mostly-non-technical running make for a fast and free running experience. The 5k loop is a winding, hilly run along wide paths among the pines. The 10k includes the 5k loop plus another 5k portion with intermediate elevation (by mountain trail run standards); while the 15k loop, which is run after the 10k loop to make the 25k course, includes some reasonably challenging elevations throughout. The 10k loop has about 1100 ft of elevation gain and the 25k has about 2450 feet (including the 10k loop).
The trails are wide and airy, but a lot of it is still basically single-track, so you get sunshine and some great views along the way. It’s also one of the less technical trail runs in the area, without a lot of rocks to trip you up, so you can get up a good rhythm. And it’s flat-out gorgeous, especially at this time of year.
If you're new to trail running, you may not find it super easy, but it'll be a super satisfying introduction to the joy of heading off the paved track. If you're a seasoned trail runner, this is a race to remember. Expect a fun vibe and hearty post-race refreshments.
Dogs: I know your dog is the best ever, but please leave him or her at home for this event.
Water: To keep nature pure and aid in clean-up, this is a cupless event. Water at the aid stations will be served from coolers, so bring a hand-held or disposable bottle.
