SATURDAY IS CANCELLED. Unfortunately, fire has come to Marin. The Muir Fire is burning directly below 1/3 of the Saturday run and the road down to Stinson is closed as of this writing. Given that the fire is only 20% contained we are canceling the Saturday run.
SUNDAY IS ALSO CANCELLED. With the uncertainty about the winds and fire danger tonight, with the power outages and with so many of our friends being evacuated in Sonoma County, we are canceling tomorrow's run.
Join Scena's Course Management Team for a weekend of training!
Join Scena on the course of the North Face Endurance Challenge San Francisco. As the Local Ambassador for the race since 2008, we have special experience and intricate knowledge of the race course. This is your opportunity to gain some in-depth course knowledge and learn about any changes for the 2019 race.
Two Days of Running and Other Options
Day One (Saturday): We'll offer a meetup for 15 minutes at the Golden Gate Bridge North Tower Parking Lot off Conzelman Road. (5702 Conzelman Rd. directions) This is a purely optional walkthrough of how you'll transition from the trail to the Golden Gate Bridge at the end of the race. This meeting is at 7:15.
The running starts at Muir Beach at 8am or as soon as we can get into the parking lot, gather up and go. It ends there whenever you end. We provide you with maps and some aid along the way. We also will talk about the course with you as we go.
Day 1 offers two running options (see maps under the Course tab above):
>> Option 1: 21 miles. This runs the 50-mile course from Muir Beach, to Cardiac and includes the Stinson Beach loop. (read: FUN)
>> Option 2: 14 miles. This leaves out the Stinson Beach loop and follows the 50k course. (read: ALSO FUN)
Day Two (Sunday): Like Day One, we'll meet at an area and have a quick, purely optional walkthrough before the running starts. Meet at the Start area in Marin City (600 Drake Avenue, Sausalito) at 7:15 and we'll show you the start area and the trailhead.
The running will start at Tennessee Valley at 8am. Parking can be congested here so leave extra time getting here.
Day 2 offers two running options:
>> Option 1: 10 miles. Starting at Tennessee Valley, we'll go to the Alta Aid Station and then out SCA Trail to scout the turn down to the Golden Gate Bridge. We'll then return and run down Rodeo Valley Trail, up Miwok Trail and down Old Springs. Old Springs isn't currently only the course but it's too good a trail to pass up.
>> Option 2: (14 miles) Do option 1 with us, then continue on the loop out Coastal, along Coyote Ridge, down Fox and home. Overachievers can go all the way to Muir Beach. This loop shows you the big climb you'll take in the early morning and again in the evening.
