The Orcas Island 50k is unique in the trail running world, with old-growth forests, tough climbs, and spectacular views of surrounding islands, mountains, and Puget Sound - but what truly sets it apart is the chance to hang out all weekend on a gorgeous island with your trail runner friends.
This loop course has approximately 8400 ft of elevation gain and has four fully stocked aid stations, at miles 6.4, 14.2, 20.6, and 25.8.
Runners will have 9 hours to complete the course. As with all of our Rainshadow Running events, our finish line will have plenty of homemade pizza, craft beer, and live bluegrass music. There is no camping at the finish area, but runners and spectators can purchase bunkhouse lodging during registration. There is also plenty of camping nearby in Moran State Park at Cascade Lake and Mountain Lake.
These are the oldest of all the Rainshadow running races - Races that will leave you wondering: Why run anywhere else?
Once the lottery closes, the race will be sold out. We do not have a wait list but runners have the option to transfer their bib. For information on bib transfers and for cancellations/deferments, please refer to the policies page on our website (www.rainshadowrunning.com).
The lottery will be open from July 15th, 2019 to July 25th, 2019. Any runner interested in participating in the race needs to add their name to the lottery during this period. Once the lottery closes on July 10th, we will draw names and announce the results no later than August 1st. If you are interested in registering as a group, please visit the Orcas 25K page on our website (www.rainshadowrunning.com) for more info!
