The Second Annual Buffalo Mountain Endurance Run has moved to October! The trees will be in peak color and the temperatures will be cooler. Once again, we will be at the Camp at Buffalo Mountain, 201 Methodist Camp Road, Jonesborough, TN 37659
I just love this location- it is family-friendly, beautiful views and more TREES!!
The course will be be slightly different this year. It will be a 1 mile- 1.25 mile loop which is mainly paved road, but a bit of trail and grass to change it up a bit. It is NOT flat at all, but the location and scenery make up for all the uphill and downhill. This course is not record setting, so leave your competitiveness at home.
There will be primitive camping available with access to bathhouse/showers. There will not be RV sites at this location, so I apologize for that. However the Camp at Buffalo Mountain has a Retreat Center with rooms available for rent- bedrooms, bathrooms and air-conditioning.
If you would like to reserve a room at the Retreat Center or a bunk bed in the cabin, please contact the Camp directly. Their number (423) 753-3604. They are open business hours 9am-5pm Mon-Sat and 1pm-5pm Sun.
Check-in for all Friday Night runners will be on Friday, Oct 2, 2020, from 12 PM- 7PM. You can set up camp on Friday. You will be allowed to change events on Ultrasignup and then on Race Day before your event starts. Once the race begins, no drop downs/switches will be allowed. Saturday morning runners can check in Friday night or Saturday morning by 7:30AM. Saturday night runners can check in anytime on Saturday until 7PM.
There will be one Aid Station at the end of the loop, near the bathhouse and pool. This aid station will be fully stocked with hot and cold food. There will be the usual ultra type food/drinks- water, electrolyte drink, energy gels, cookies, fruit, potato chips, chocolate, pretzels, pb&j, broth, etc. There will be pancakes, bacon, pizza and Sno-Cones throughout the weekend. The grill will be up and running all weekend. If you have special dietary needs/electrolyte drinks, please plan to bring your own food, but let me know as well. Runners will be allowed to set up personal supplies at their tent site or their car. There will be a bath house with flush toilets and showers at the Aid Station.
The start time will be 8PM Friday Aug 9 for the 36 Hour, 24 Hour, and 12 Hour Friday Night. Saturday Morning at 8AM the , 12 Hour Saturday and 3 Hour will start. Finally on Saturday Night at 8PM, 6 Hour Saturday Night will begin.
I always try to find something different for race swag and I have a great idea for this year, but more on that later.
T-Shirts will be available for $15. I haven't decided on a color or design yet, but they will be the signature shirt that I always get. Tri-blend. Sizes XS-XXXL. You can purchase one when you register or let me know by September 15, 2020 that you want one. I will not have extra for purchase.
100 mile Buckles
I will have 100 mile buckles available for the 36 hour runners to purchase at the event site if they choose to do so. I will have more info on that later.
No pacers on the course, please. This venue is too small for extra non-registered folks to be on the course.
Food before the Race
In 2019, Morewood Smoked Meat Food Truck was at the race and it was a huge hit, so I will plan to have a food truck on site again for 2020!!
No refunds, transfers or deferments on this event because most of the money is already spent. Then I donate the rest of proceeds to charity- last year I donated to St. Jude, local animal shelters, Salvation Army, Hurricane Relief Funds, National Stroke Association, as well as the local Foster Children Associations in the Tri-Cites area. Also if you purchase a shirt and you don't show up to the race, I will not mail the shirt. I hardly ever go to the post office and ultimately I will forget. So, if you don't have someone pick your shirt up for you, I will re-sell it and then donate the money to a local charity.
