COVID in '21
We're currently assuming that the COVID 19 situation will not be remarkably different from 2020 by May. The Parks have indicated approval to move forward with the event in 2021, but with considerations and modifications in place as per 2020. We're assuming that we'll be okay to have non-NYS entrants join us this year, but all is a bit unknown. So, we're moving forward but please understand that some details will not be finalized until we get within a month or so of the event. Thanks for the continued understanding and flexibility!
$2 Bucks for Lipsey
$2 from each registration will be donated to assist Matt Lipsey, a friend, teammate, and all-around outstanding trail running ambassador in the northeast. In October of 2020, after months of unexplained diminishing strength and coordination, Matt was diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP). He caught it fairly early and it's treatable, but with a bit of expense. We're hoping that he'll be able to draw the design for this year's event T (for new entrants...rollover's T's are already printed from last year).
What you'll get....
Entrants will get to run a beautiful course supported by amazing volunteers, and post-race food from Fitnell Catering, and a post-race Specialized Purist finisher's bottle.
For those who register before March 30th you'll also receive a tech shirt from Patagonia or Made-In-NY by Royal Apparel (no shirt or correct size guarantee for those who register after April 15th), and Deluxe event bag from Boco Gear. For entrants who stuck with us, running and receiving those items in 2020, we'll come up with something different. For those who rolled over, and those joining us for a first time, you'll get a chunk of the swag we had produced for 2020 but didn't get to use secondary to COVID
Prizes from sponsors - if we get some in and in the form of logo cards will be scattered throughout the course in lieu of traditional age group / podium prizes. Most importantly and lasting is the hope that we'll all get to spend a pretty fun and memorable day together on the trails!
Portions of each entry will go to support the Finger Lakes Land Trust, Finger Lakes Trail Conference, and State Parks Heritage Trust for local trail and park projects. We'll again be a cupless event. If you don't already have one, or lost in in the interim, and need one, you'll have the option to add one to your entry for $5 (cost). I realize the cupless format is a pain for some but hopefully you get the benefit.
Course general description
The course format was modified in 2020 per COVID, and we'll repeat the format. It's roughly 95% trail, 5% paved, and only a few miles where you'll overlap in out/back format with other entrants.

At this point we're still operating under similar COVID modifications as we had in place for 2020. Entrants will be able to leave a drop bag at the Y Camp staging area only (miles 10, 25, 35).
Poles, Pacers, and Crews
Yes you can use poles. However, our climbs are not that long and only a couple steep in parts. It's not the greatest fitting course for poles.
No to pacers.
Traditionally we've welcomed crews and it's a very accessible course in that regard. Per COVID precautions, we'll again unfortunately not be able to have crews on course.
We realize things come up, whether injury or family plans. While we have a no-refund policy, we will roll entries into another RNR event this or next year if notified no more than 30 days out from the race. No refunds or rollovers if notified within 30 days of the event.
