Announcement 5/18/2020

As of 5/18/20, the Lean Horse Ultra 2020 IS NOT CANCELLED. Out of concern for the health of our runners and friends, we will continue to monitor the situation closely and will follow the advice of local government and medical officials. We have now instituted the following changes:

We have established a waitlist for interested runners. Fill out the registration form. Your card WILL NOT BE CHARGED AT THIS TIME. You will be put on the waitlist.

We will contact both registered and waitlisted runners with an update on or about June 17, 2020.

If the Lean Horse Ultra is cancelled, registered runners will be given the option to defer their entry to the 2021 or 2022 event.

If the Lean Horse Ultra is not cancelled, waitlisted runners will be contacted and told that their entry fee will be processed.

Due to the uncertainty of this pandemic, please understand the Lean Horse Ultra 2020 can be cancelled at any time before the event. We will adhere to the guidance we are provided and the event is subject to permits not being withdrawn.

Thank you for your understanding and patients.

Be safe.

The Lean Horse 100 is considered to be one of the best first time ultra’s in the country because of the great running surface and gentle elevation changes.

There are many things that have changed at the Lean Horse 100 over the years. But one thing that does not change is the "small town" feel of the race. The crew at Lean Horse wants to make sure that your ultra is the race that you will never forget.

For more than ten years, the Lean Horse 100 has inspired runners of all abilities and from all walks of life, from all over the country and world to come to South Dakota to test themselves over the 20 Mile, 30 Mile, 50 mile and 100 mile distances.
