One of the newest Rainshadow Running events, this race is a fundraiser for Interfaith Works Emergency Overnight Shelter, which provides critical support for those experiencing homelessness in Olympia/Thurston County. 50% of every race entry goes to the shelter and runners have the option to make an extra donation during registration, 100% of which will go directly to the shelter. Guests of the shelter typically come to the race to hang out and cheer on the runners and one of their members is the only person to have run this race every year!
Fast & Scenic Course
The race course is fun and relatively flat so it is great for beginners or runners wanting to PR. Taking place at Millersylvania State Park, this course offers mostly single track trail through mossy and dense old growth forest. Finishing right on the lake, it is the perfect place to bring the whole family or your crew of friends for some lakeside hangs afterwards! Each loop is 10 kilometers and has about ~300 feet of elevation gain.
Post Race Festivities
We do not offer finisher medals at any of our races, but instead choose to spend that money on providing a one-of-a-kind post race celebration. Runners, volunteers, and their friends/family get all the wood-fired pizza, local craft beer, snacks and other non alcoholic drinks they want and we always bring in a band to provide free live music at the finish line! We strive to create a sense of community where people want to hang out, cheer on their fellow runners, and share trail stories. Our finish line will be just as festive when the last runners cross the finish line as when the winners come through.
