This is 3, 6, 12 or 24 hour race that loops around an organic vegetable farm just south of Lennox, SD. There isn't much elevation gain or loss and the trail will be determined by how much rain we have gotten over the summer. The course follows a border around our acres of vegetable fields--so it is mainly well traveled dirt and some pasture where the miniature animals reside.
The 24 hour race is new in 2020 and will start at 5PM on Saturday, September 5th and end at 5PM on Sunday the 6th. The 12 hour race starts at 7am on Spetmeber 6th, the 6 hour starts at Noon on the 6th and the 3 hour starts at 1PM. This allows us staggered starts and finishes to allow for as much distance as possible during the run. COVID UPDATES: Each runner is allowed one car--what you cram into that is up to you. We suggest bringing whatever you need to finish the race (food, hydration, crew if you want). Your crew must hang around your car and there will not be pacers allowed. Each car will have a parking spot in a field which the runners will pass on each loop. Use your car as your aid station. Each runner will also pass the lap counting station on each loop and our house/porch will act as an additional aid station for things you may have forgotten and some hot food during the night for the 24 hour runners.
In 2011 we decided to purchase a farm with the intentions of growing vegetables for the masses. We named our farm The Good Earth after the Noble Prize winning novel by Pearl S Buck. We grew vegetables like crazy and worked our tails off. In the mean time, a local monument named Blood Run was turned into a state park. The powers that be thought that naming a state park Blood Run wouldn't elicit a positive image, so they named the park The Good Earth at Blood Run.
Local time: 1:25 AM
We have a sense of humor and we love endurance running, so we came up with a 3, 6, 12 (and now 24) hour run that would mimic what it is like to be an organic vegetable farmer.
