Until we hear from the DNR about race count restrictions being lifted, we will display the waitlist status once we reach 20 participants. Please get on the waitlist. As soon as the DNR and State issue new restriction guidelines, we will process the additional entries.
We are doing this because we are still under a 25 person event capacity restriction so close to the event date. Thanks for your patience!
Welcome to the Ode to the Night: Where "Finishing Last Means the Most"®
Want to get into the Ode to Laz Backyard Ultra in July? Just win a prize here!
If you like running at night with friends on a safe park road, this is the race for you.
The main Saturday night race will start at 8:36 pm to simulate the light conditions that will happen for the July Ode to Laz race.
4.167 mile race runners, join us Sunday morning at 8:36 am for our famous Ode to Laz Trail loop
Run one 4.167 mile out and back lap of the Ode to Laz night loop every hour backyard style, or run continuous. Run any distance you'd like up to 12 hours. Headlights required. You can switch from the "Backyard Format" to continuous if you wish, at any time, and your classification changes permanently to a "continous" runner. There is no switching from continuous to the "backyard" category after the start of the race.
We will have coffee and soup. Setup a canopy for your pit crew area and get ready to log some miles or cheer the other runners through the night.
To top things off, why don't you run a bonus 13th loop at 8:36 am and simulate a transition to the Ode Trail Loop!

Everyone that races gets a cool, collectible Ode to the Night coffee mug* (that may help you run through the night!)
Want to get into theOde to Laz Backyard Ultra? This is the race for you! Each prize winner gets bypass entry into the race FREE.
Male and female overall "distance" winners: Run in continuous status from the gun or transition from backyard style to continuous status any time. No additional laps start after the 11 hour point, and you are allowed infinite time to complete your last lap, however, in the event of a distance tie, the fastest last lap finisher wins.
Male and Female Backyard Overall winners: A twist since there is a limit of 12 laps. Win the prize by accumulating the least total run time for all 12 laps. Otherwise, the total lap count leaders win the prize (we are assuming many will run all 12)
(If you are already entered into the Ode to Laz, your entry fee will be refunded)
One prize per person, no transfers.
Virtual 12 hour accumulated backyard style time winner (least accumulated time) wins the famous Orange beanie!
* No prizes shipped outside the USA (we will ship to any USA address you specify, or you may pay excess shipping - it's expensive!)
